Well I would speculate much of that is a response to the media, academia, and a large part of the rest of the internet) continuously pushing this "evil whitey", "poor innocent oppressed minorities", etc narrative. If you want to speak about disingenuous then there are many example of that on a far bigger state than some bodybuilding forum.

Okay it's about the forum, but that doesn't mean we should just disregard the bigger picture.

I mean...this is a forum, and like a male locker room type environment. I don't consider some venting (I can't think of a better word) against a BS narrative that is pretty damn widespread (and it's not just MSM) to really be "retaliating" - that seems rather melodramatic. Now if white MISCers were using the media's BS as an excuse to go around inflicting violence (ie the "knockout game") against random blacks, or something else actually tangible, then I would agree.

But in order to stay true your own beliefs, it's ok to politely disagree or defend your "position," if necessary! Oh, I wasn't claiming that there are no advantages to being white or that racism doesn't exist.

Just stating that IMO the increased vocalized anger from *some* white people is based on feeling personally attacked as racist/privileged while at the same time seeing other groups receive preferential treatment.

I do tend to think that in matters relating to education and employment preference [if any] should be needs based, not race based. There are wealthy and successful families of various races and there are poor and disadvantaged families of various races. I won't claim to know how innate ability, prior performance, and economic/social disadvantages should be weighted to attempt some type of fairness.

I think that maybe what irks me is the idea that race is THE factor when it comes to discrimination when that is demonstrably false.

- weight
- clothing
- grooming
- dental health
- speaking ability
- age
- sex
- religious affiliation
- physical or mental disability

Often these can be quickly identified and can be reasons for bias/discrimination. Some can be altered by choice, while others can't be. We can pass laws against discrimination, but as it is often difficult to prove and sometimes even unconscious I see no way to eliminate it.

Can I get a quick rundown on what happened to misc in the past 6 months or so?

I checked in today after ages and apparently misc has been shut down or some chit. I can access it just fine, but it seems 'different'.

Also agree that this is basically **********. It has been getting progressively worse since 2015-16 Trump election. The rest of the internet got over it, but it doesn't look like the misc did.

Just stating that IMO the increased vocalized anger from *some* white people is based on feeling personally attacked as racist/privileged while at the same time seeing other groups receive preferential treatment.

I agree. I'll just remind lurkers again though...White women benefit the most from Affirmative Action. So the white race benefits the most from Affirmative Action, despite narratives to the contrary.
I think that maybe what irks me is the idea that race is THE factor when it comes to discrimination when that is demonstrably false.

- height
- weight
- clothing
- grooming
- dental health
- speaking ability
- age
- sex
- religious affiliation
- physical or mental disability

Often these can be quickly identified and can be reasons for bias/discrimination. Some can be altered by choice, while others can't be.
Most people who talk about about race discrimination don't believe that - the educated ones at least - because they believe in something called intersectionality.

Which is basically the understanding that a convergence of factors can result in social advantages and disadvantages.
We can pass laws against discrimination, but as it is often difficult to prove and sometimes even unconscious I see no way to eliminate it.
I'm sure you'll agree that things - in the west - are significantly better than at the beginning of the 20th century. So I think we are making good progress.
