That's one way to look at it. The way I choose to look at it is that I have a family to provide for and I will do whatever is necessary to ensure that they are taken care of. But that's not the point of this thread.

Religious exemption.

I'm probably just going to go with Pfizer (unless by some miracle this thing gets overturned). It has less of the vaccine "material" than Moderna, so seems like the lesser of two evils (and I'm expecting J&J's single shot isn't going to be deemed adequate for much longer).Have you ever took a rushed mRNA or Viral Vector vaccine that has no long term data available, and isn't even turning out to be very effective anyway?

I had COVID and it knocked me on my ass. I went to the ER on day THIRTEEN, and was in the hospital for two days.

I'm the far end of the bell curve for sure, but I can tell you firsthand that relatively young (39) and healthy (gym 3-4x a week plus generally active) can still get very, very sick from it.

Now that I have "natural immunity" status from the CDC for 90 days (lol), I am holding out for the Novovax. If I had to get one tomorrow, I'd get the J&J. It's NOT a traditional vaccine like some think, but it is not mRNA, is only one shot, and I know too many people who felt terrible after second shots of the mRNA vaccines.

The last I time I looked, I think Pfizer had a slightly lower rate of complications as compared to Moderna and both were a bit lower than J&J. But, at least as far as the reported data is concerned, none of the three commonly available in the US has a particularly high rate of complications. So then it comes down to how much you trust the data and whether you think serious long term side effects are going to arise. Personally, I don't fully trust the data, but I'm also not convinced they are lying. I think skeptical is the right word to describe me. Regarding long-term side effects, I would guess they are unlikely, but prefer to make health decisions on more than a guess.

I'm not vaxxed either and I live in a conservative state and work for a small business, so I am probably in the clear for a while. If I had to get one today I would probably do Pfizer or J&J. I consider J&J mostly for the 1 shot convenience. It might lose the convenience factor soon though. Reports this morning are saying they've had good success with boosters, my guess is that soon you will need a booster with the J&J to be considered fully vaccinated.

I'm about your age and maybe in the same range of physical activity. When I look at the available information, the logic part of my brain says it probably statistically better to get vaccinated. But then I start looking at all the bias in the reporting and the push to make everyone conform, and I start to get nagging doubts. They say follow the science and then they ignore natural immunity when the preponderance of evidence suggests natural immunity is superior to the vaccines in every way. Just not a very good way to build trust. I probably would have been vaccinated months ago, if I felt like I could trust the "system" to provide objective information. Force me into a decision though, and I will dig in my heels.
