^^^ those song lyrics are heavy as any you can find in 90’s metal. Srs
Add to that they’re not just gory death metal lyrics sang with growling Cookie Monster vocals. His vocals and korn’s music just the sound is real. What he’s singing about is raw and uncut. I mean I love songs about fantasy, war, and death even some with the bear roar monster vocals.
Six feet under - America the brutal
Chris Barnes best work. Didn’t even agree with his political views in it but it was better than praising the devil and killing Christians or whatever. It was something hesangabout that was real to him.

Great comedy in here, that's for sure.

And I don’t think anyone itt is pretending to listen to the bands they’re namedropping. Seriously is this middle school? Posing is a thing teenagers do ffs.
I proudly listen to everything from Abba to ZZ Top.
My favorite genres of music are metal and rap. I respect KoRn a great deal as I made clear. I discussed death metal which isn’t even my favorite sub genre of metal. For me that would be power metal with clean vocals. I discussed them because they were brought up here. Basically I was saying that I’m fully aware of most the bands itt and Yet it still stands korn is among the heaviest.
The extreme death metal bands often have a great amount of musical talent. Guitars, drums and bass often can be technically great even with them demonic sounding death metal vocals that are not comprehensible without reading the lyrics sheet.
Nevermore, blind guardian, Dio, Manowar, sonata Arctica, Alice In Chains, nightwish. Just to name a few are my favorites. I do acknowledge death metal music is loud, fast, heavy and often technically great musically exceptional despite as I stated the Cookie Monster vocals. Far more than just noise on the mic. Ugh.

Not power metal, but Ulver's debut album Bergtatt has nice melodies and clean vocals. This is from '94, when Garm was also providing vocals for Borknagar.
If there are any unaware, Bergtatt means, roughly, bewitched by mountain spirits, as in someone has gone into the mountains chasing a dream and has become lost in euphoria, or dementia. Rumor has it the lyrics for this entire album were written in an archaic Danish language. Ulver went full send with lore.

Taking a turn towards the upbeat, let's have a listen to Euzen performing Metamorph. This band features the hypnotic vocals of the lovely Norwegian lady Maria Franz, whom also performs for Heilung. You may notice a nod to Bjork in her vocal styles.
If this doesn't make you want to dance then you're not an autist. Listen, nerds, hit play. You won't be disappointed.

Maiden is probably my number one if all time
Love female fronted metal bands like nightwish, within temptation and Darkwell

I have no idea what I'm saying.
Does misc have a metal thread? Seems like there's a lot of us here.
I was thinking we could start a metal thread with the caveat that in order to post a song you have to comment on the video posted before your post. That way we avoid having a thread where people just spam videos without listening to any of the previous posts.

Vardoger if you fire it up I’d post them a long with at least a few sentences about the song I’d be posting. If it caught on it’d be great.
Music and working out go hand in hand IMO. I could never lift without music. So not surprised many metal heads here. Extreme aggressive music especially is motivating. I did way back on Bb.com keep a log in the workout journals section where I posted my lifts/thoughts/meals/supps and an album of the day. I had a few but didn’t catch on. Hope your metal thread can. It’s a good idea In theory.

Manowar - “I Believe” song has helped me squeeze out them last few reps wherein gains come from. Them and Hatebreed and well, Korn many times.

There is neither man nor woman that could resist the thumbnail on that video. She can also play. I think the last time I watched that video someone posted her name somewhere in the comment section. Can't say I was as impressed with her body of work as I was with her body.
The vocalist is also motorcycle hottie with a nice range.
Semblant
I just can't though. But the vocalist is no doubt a looker.
More babes, and it had to happen:
This video is a little not safe for work, but Krisreallyembraces her charm here.

Davis from Korn and Durst from Limp Bizkit for the most part are rapping over a rock/metal backing track played with real instruments by their band members.
Jay Z and Linkin Park have songs together and they blend even though one is considered rap and the other is rock.
It would be cool to hear more rappers collab with rock/metal bands or select individual musicians to form fantasy style bands to make new remixes or cover their old songs to release new albums.

Strong thread.
One could argue that, especially if you’re really referring to “mtv metal”. Their first video/song “Blind” STILL fuking slaps. Then realize they essentially birthed all the later Nu-Metal downtuning “mtv metal” bands like Mudvayne & Slipknot.
One also has to remember though that “heavy” is subjective, and although I haven’t read the thread, I’m certain there’s some old30s/40s brahs itt saying Metallica and slayer were still active in the 90s and were heavier even if they weren’t in Drop A tuning. Which is funny cause to my (then) young ears, I never even thought them that heavy until they converted to the nu metal sound (St Anger / God Hates Us All).
All that said, Meshuggah has and will forever crush anyone. Forever and ever. Amen.
