Obviously I agree with that obvious statement. But I think calling it masterpiece and basically goty already is too far. Like I said if this game wins a bunch of goty awards, 2022 went wrong.

I don't even expect it to be the best game this month. Elden ring should be better and I personally also like sifu more
I also said this -

In it's first few hours this game as a sequel is right on par with Witcher 3, Mass Effect 2, UC2 and Assassins Creed 2 as being a game that has improved over it's predecessor.

I consider those games to be masterpieces as well. None of these games did anything new or "revolutionary" ... They were incredible games that refined and greatly improved on the excellent foundation built by their predecessor. it's the same for this game.

Fair enough that you dont like it though.

You can, but I'd watch a recap video on YT because the game's sequel's picks up right after the first game and there's a lot of returning characters, story beats that require you to know exactly what happened.

The game also has a recap video and a biographies section for all characters and stuff so you can get upto speed. If you go into the game without knowing anything about the first game you're gonna be like wtf is going on lol.

Only played for a couple hours this afternoon because after working all day then dinner with the fam, I was beat, but…

….very quickly reminded of a lot of things that made the first so good. Combat is again just phenomenal. Voice acting of Aloy is absolutely fantastic. All the voice acting is good so far, but hers in particular is some of the best in the industry, period IMO.
Visually you can’t give the game enough credit. Playing on resolution mode is a must. The 30fps frame rate doesn’t bother me in the slightest and WELL worth the sacrifice over the 60fps performance mode for how much better it looks. On an HDR TV it’s a looker for sure. While I wouldn’t say it’s the best looking game I’ve ever played on any platform, it’s probably the best looking game I’ve ever played on a console, next to Ghost of Tsushima. That game also looked incredible, particularly with the lighting and particle effects they pulled off, on an HDR TV.

Looking forward to being able to put a lot more time into it tomorrow and Sunday.

For the love of God man the original is so good. Can't you just get it on sale and have the joy of being able to play horizon 1 and 2 in a row? It comes with the DLC which is in the top 2 DLC I've ever played. You know what, it's #1

I've seen a big difference in terms of sharpness just on YouTube on my phone between resolution mode and performance mode specifically for this game. While I'm dying to get away from 30fps finally, it seems like most people recommend resolution mode for Horizon 2 and I can understand.

With other games I feel like the performance mode doesn't sacrifice that much resolution but somehow for Horizon 2 it does. Again, I'll have to test it for myself in 3 weeks but it seems I may have to play one last game in 30fps before I move to 60.

I'm getting so hype reading comments about voices and characters feeling more realistic and relatable due to the improvements in acting and character expressions. I really like Aloy as a character, I'm one of the few who does so hopefully her personality in this game gets a chance to shine alot more.

Yeah Aloy was great ion HZD .... She's amazing in this game. She feels more like an actual character now lol, lot of sarcasm, quips, intimidation, heart, emotion and the voice actress has improved greatly. I think Guerrila must have hired some coach/director, because every single character sounds fantastic. Really sells the world and the script.

Just completed the blessing or w/e and was accepted into the tribe for hzd1

So far pretty good game. The skill tree doesn’t cater at all to my style of playing which is annoyingly high hp regen but it’s fun outside of that

60fps is not here to stay once cross gen ends. Even in this cross-gen period, there are sacrifices having to be made to hit 60. GotG is 1080p/60 with lower settings. Forbidden west takes a big resolution hit. Dying Light 2 has to go to 1080p to hit 60.

In a couple years, once the CPU's and such are being maxed, no amount of resolution lowering will give you 60. Of course there will still be games that can hit 60 though. Just like there were last gen.

60fps+ are great for fast paced games... for games like horizon or uncharted I rather have raytracing and 30 solid ass frames.

I understand how people can feel that way. But I can't even appreciate how a game looks at 30 when as soon as you move the camera it all turns into a big blur. 60 keeps so much more detail intact in motion.

This game is why I'm buying a PS5 Pro on day one and even then that may not be enough. I want 60 fps and Ray tracing. Hell, developers should at least try 45fps + Ray tracing

It seems Insomniac are the only developers that can pull off 60fps and Ray tracing which they did with Spider-Man

IDK maybe I prefer RT more cause when im looking at details camera is mostly steady... when moving around fast my focus is on other things going on.

I played DMC PS5 and I think that had 60fps and RT.. looked nice, game was short burst of fun. I think it went up to 120fps but sub 4k.

Well honestly I have no idea... Sony said they're wanting to get more of their library out on PC so hopefully that means that new titles will get ported much much quicker from now on.

Kind of wish I picked this up before this weekend but I'm committed to starting Elden Ring on release and don't want to rush or leave this unfinished. Platted the first game on release and plan on doing everything in this when I get to it.

Looks impressive given they had to make sure it works on a nearly 9 year old console as well.

A few hours in. I’ll say that I did have the black guy bug out as soon as the game started which made me lol. Just swimming in circles had to reload (which took 2.3 seconds obv). And there is definitely a noticeable shimmer to the look of the game in 60fps mode. But as I’ve spent the last 3 years gaming on a 2080ti I’m not sure I can stomach 30fps so I’m prob just gonna eat the shimmer and pop in.

From an sequel prospective it seems to excel in what the original did, just cranked up a few more notches. Art direction and machine enemy design is generally awe inspiring. Horizon definitely has the most unique and compelling enemy encounters of any open world game. Pretty cool we are also getting Elden Ring as well, which should also depart significantly from the standard fare of enemies in open world games.

Prob bout 4 hours in looking forward to playing more.

Lmfao @ anyone who says this game is much of the same as the first. I'm 12 hours in and this game is an improvement over the first in just about every way.

And for anyone who thought the story in the first was mediocre - the story in this one is fking awesome so far. Just got to a point where I learned some cool chit that I didn't see coming.
