Ironically I came in here just to clarify what bjj for police training actually looks like and how it can be helpful. From the perspective of the officer who regularly do both.
And it turns into a bunch of people pretending like someone is advocating for all cops to turn into bjj machines and forego weapons. SMH.

I agree it’s not a perfect solution but it’s much better then some of the dumb chit that I see.

They need about 3 months, 3days a week to get the most out of it. 1 stripe white belt at best. No need to even go to blue. And we actually get a fair amount of cops that come in just for those few months.
Arm drags, kimura grips, side control, few trip take down like osoto-gari, scarf holds, etc..
You quickly learn how to make someone’s arms stop moving and how to pressure them into a “stuck” position. Once grips are developed if you don’t want to advance position can just sit there. I could probably hold someone who outweighed me by like 25% In a scarf hold for hours if I wanted too.
Although I guess we shouldn’t tell them knee on neck is a legal move for us still.

You know the offender's friend was filming the whole thing, what if he decided to get involved? Is that BJJ gonna save him when it's now 2 on 1?

I am informing you what practical benefits police can achieve from a minimal amount of time invested and ignoring about 80% of the sport as being worthless to them.
I am not arguing it would have helped this situation. I am just fine with police executing the guy who grabbed the taser.
I am relaying what kind of practical benefits actual police officers can gain from physical restraint situations. From the officers I roll with and conversations we have, to new officers just joining for a little bit, do listening to podcasts with officers discussing the subject.
Are you stupid enough to think police should receive zero training in physical restraints?

Everything you said is irrelevant, because you don't actually know what you're talking about. I do. Because this is my profession. So regardless of the fact that you did 5 minutes of internet research, you're still wrong. Cool links though... I've seen them all since I have actual certifications from Axon and you're some idiot on the internet spreading stupid "knowledge". So before you come at me and tell me I'm pulling chit out my ass and act like you know what you're talking about, maybe you should actually know what you're talking about.

I HavE aCTuAL cERTiFiCAtionS lmao, that was embarrassing to read.
Minimum recommended prong distance for an effective incapacitation is 12 inches. That happens over a 4 foot distance with the Taser 7. Most other tasers are 7 feet. Anything closer and it’s ineffective
Explain how our dead guy is supposed to use his taser and get that spread while laying face down flat on the ground, with officers full force and weight on him lol.
I can’t wait for you to come up with some unbelievable scenario where our dead guy can potentially BJJ his way out of this struggle and mentally justify it lol.
Just lmao @ police

Drive stun does not affect your central nervous system, so you can still function. Yeah, it'll hurt, but who the **** says you're down for the count?
Keep justifying a bullet in the back of someone's head because they were reaching for a nonlethal weapon that has a minuscule chance of being used the recommended and effective way.

I will. I'd like to see a video of someone pressing a drive stun into your throat and you still having the wherewithal to do anything else after grappling for 4 minutes and bear in mind this person's only goal is to put you down so they can get away.***Mariah Carey is my 10/10 Crew***
