Absolutely.. I would say generally they probably lie by 20k or so normally.

Some people are legit, by I'd say 70% are lying

My exact thought. srs. I make $100k with my bachelors and 3 years of experience and have probably the same low cost of living as he does.

Its just a number, dont get too fixated on 80k, 100k whatever. Get focused on savings rate and learn to invest. Having the discipline to set aside money every month and never go into debt while accumlating assets will set you apart.

For example, I have 8 co workers in my division. We all make within 10k of each other.
All but two of us are paycheck to paycheck and the majority are in debt and increasing the debt every day. One guy has bought/traded in 3 cars this year for him and his family taking a 5-10k loss on each vehicle, srs, brootal. Meanwhile All I can think of is how much I can dump into the S and P 500 without effecting my downpayment fund. DO more with less with finicial discipline. Everyone knows some poor bastard paycheck to paycheck making 6 figures.

In to get mogged.

I make $105k in a low CoL area (Kansas City), but I’m remote 99% of the time and I don’t bust my body up doing tough work. Also I get to chill behind screens and not talk to people.

I don't think anyone is straight frauding but I think there is a lot of selection bias.

> People online are wealthier on average
> People who post are more likely to do so as a brag

Additionally, I think most of misc posters tend to be in big cities where the COL is much higher so the wage isn't a straight 1:1 ratio. Finally, I think a lot of sales jobs probably have people post their best quarters and act like that is their norm.

I'd actually love to just dump a months pay to double my PTO from 4 weeks to 8 weeks a year personally.

The older I get and more I make and save I'm going to want this option even more. Maybe 3-4 more years of working current style and I might seriously start shifting to ask about doing this at the expense of pay and see reactions.
we have this at my current job, you 'buy' vacation, essentially forgo up to a month of salary for an extra month off, they adjust all your checks accordingly.

170k income. 8 years ago that would have been good. Now it feels poverty.

Used to be 10k/day ceo but I have that life up to see what it feels like living in poverty.

Lmao that's not true. I routinely see advertisements on trucks for wages starting at 90k for a driver. There has been a shortage of drivers. 125k for a seasoned professional in that position isn't unreasonable.

Ok.

As far as the question at hand, I'd wager that the average on bb.com/misc tends to be higher than general society. People who understand you have to work to make changes (working out, gym, etc), also probably have that same mindset in other aspects on their lives. It's not everybody, sure. but ON AVERAGE, I'd bet its much higher here. It's also why the misc leans conservative, people have a mindset of doing things on your own, nobody owes you anything, you work for what you want, etc.

Honestly, no, most aren't frauding.

The only people that share their income are those with high income, and inflation in cities is sky high. I live in LA so 100k is pretty average.

I don’t fraud my income on here, but I live in a high COL area where making $100K is poverty level.

There are conveniences I like and that require being at least somewhat close to the city. I’d rather not go the septic route, and being able to order in food is a luxury that I’d not want to miss out on now. Plus just easy access to things, top tier restaurants and such

But the ideal IMO is having a private piece of land close enough to the city where you can be balls out on the tractor + get municipal utilities + have space for a sex dungeon
