Srs. On here 100k per year is considered poor yet IRL here in the UK that puts you in the top 2% atleast outside of London. Average salary for an individual here is £20-25k/$30k-35 (srs)
Even top jobs like an NHS doctor here earns you 40-50k per year. Average lawyer salary is about 47k.
Yet Murican brahs on here are saying they earn 300-500k doing those jobs on the same level.
Are UK wages just extremely poverty compared to the US or are miscers frauding?

Its a self-selecting survey.
People arent busting in here to brag about their mcJobs making 18k/yr.
People who have had some level of success are more likely to share/participate.

I was born in the UK and spent the first 11 years of my life there until I moved to the states. Salaries and the currency is totally different plus most if you’ll p h a g g o t s live of benefits. 100k I ain’t impressive in the states. Most people can hit that eventually if they pick a decent career. Hell McDonald starts people off at 30k per year now for an entry level cook Lmao

Selection bias and you need to consider cost of living, because similar numbers can buy you a very different quality of life even within the same country much less when comparing to other countries on the opposite side of the world
For these reasons it's much more useful to focus on quality of life afforded rather than raw numbers

Most miscers are probably telling the truth. Growing up poor it was a red pill for me to swallow that most people are not poor. It’s not normal to make less than $75k/year. Families normally pull well above six figures with both husband and wife working.
I have no need to fraud though. I make $35k per year but I’m finally leaving that job for a better salary position soon.

Do some people exaggerate/lie? Probably.
Is $100K a great salary in the major US cities? No, not anymore.
That is around what my ex was making and as a family of 3 in SE MI we lived pretty modestly- small house, nothing special cars, no big vacations, not a lot of meals out or toys. We could have used more credit/gone deeper in debt.
True story: My ex ran up about $50K in credit card bills after our divorce. I likely wouldn't have known except that he died and everything had to go through the court system.

"junior" doctors (anybody not a consultant) get up to about 120k, with consultants on more
basic pay for a train driver is ~53k
Somebody taking a 6 month contract for 2nd line support will be on 30per hour, CAD 35per hour
Etc
There are a lot of people making more money out there than you think.

I think most are telling the truth. You have to understand most people on a forum like this are more likely to be better off. Gang bangers and povertycels aren't rushing to post on the misc in their free time usually.
White collar upper middle class is generally the crowd that gravitates toward online forums.
If you took a similar poll on education rather than income I'd be willing to bet you'd see a similar trend with this group having more advanced degrees than the general population as well.

I'd actually love to just dump a months pay to double my PTO from 4 weeks to 8 weeks a year personally.
The older I get and more I make and save I'm going to want this option even more. Maybe 3-4 more years of working current style and I might seriously start shifting to ask about doing this at the expense of pay and see reactions.

I thought the same too OP many years ago until I learned the differences. The US is just a wealthier country.
If youre making £30k in UK thats respectable (outside of london), and id say 40k is respectable for london salary. Although I think you'd want to be making considerable more to feel really comfortable living in the city, atleast 50k
