He ended up arrested multiple times, lost most of the money to drugs and gambling, daughter died from a heroin overdose and more. It’s a rare case but still. Most people can’t even fathom that kind of cash, even if they’re already upper class.

I'm not gonna lie, as much as I hate California politics, I can definitely see why someone would be tempted to live in San Diego with that kinda cash. Exactly they had a report and follow up years ago on lotto winners and it was like only 15 percent are able to keep SOME of there money after 5 years or still have some, where like 2 percent were or less were able to invest that money they won and grow it

the rest went broke due to over spending or bad investments from someone they hired to help them invest in stocks and other things

People have to remember the majority of lotto players and winners are poor, this guy lived in a dirty ghetto shack.

I hope he is able to make his money grow but judging from his massive home purchases I think he is just trying to live lavish

I think it's hilarious that so many miscers in here say he's making good financial choices because "real estate is an investment". Real estate *can* be an investment, but coastal luxury McMansions in California are not among those good investments. Those kinds of properties are well-known for wild fluctuations in value, because most people with that kind of money (billions) opt to just get their own place built anyway, making the market for such properties stupidly small and unreliable. Those properties are notorious for being re-sold at massive bargain prices to legit richcels, but I guarantee a dude who just went from peasant status to overnight billionaire off of a lottery ticket didn't spend any time trying to make sure he got good deals on any of it.

If I won that kind of money I would keep living in my current house, but I'd buy some cool chit, hire some undercover private security to follow me around and that's pretty much it. Maybe I'd end up spending 100K if that.

I would move away in remote secluded land asap . Buy houses in california for investment and have it rent out. Travel around the world. Build an animal sanctuary and business. Donate to charities. Buy my parents a house and siblings.
