$2 Billion Powerball winner, Edwin Castro, spotted in public for the first time

His **smugness intensifies**

The California resident who became an overnight millionaire after winning the $2 billion Powerball prize flashed a wide grin as he was spotted dipping into his large fortune on Wednesday.

Edwin Castro was photographed taking out a fat envelope of cash from a Chase bank Wednesday with his newly hired security team in tow.

The lucky 30-year-old, who was dressed down in a quarter-zip Under Armour shirt, joggers and flip-flops while running his bank errand, added a whopping $997.6 million to his account when he won the largest lottery prize in US history last year.

Castro came forward in February to claim his winnings and opted for a one-time lump sum payment.

He has since invested in real estate — buying two multi-million-dollar homes in California in just one month.

Castro purchased both a $25.5 Million Hollywood Hills estate and a $4 Million mansion with views of the San Gabriel Mountains in March alone.

Castro has purchased at least one lavish new whip to match his income boost. He was spotted driving a $250,000 vintage Porsche 911 with a friend around town.

How it began

Castro grew up in Altadena and was living in a small, one-bedroom home at the time he won the record-breaking jackpot.

How it ended

I'm seething right now. It should have been me. I was going to use part of my new found wealth to fund my underground, super secret vigilante style justice team of contract killers who hunt, torture, and ---- all the unchecked evil in this world. Since, the government is intentionally not doing a good enough job at protecting innocent people and animals.

P.S. Hi 3-letter agencies I know you're watching, no need to be alarmed this is just a short story I'm working on, totally fiction...ded fkn srs.

IDK $997 million added to his account, sounds like he spent around $30m so far. I'd probably buy a similar mansion or estate with that kind of dough, put like $800m into diversified long term investments, keep the remaining $167m in checking for CoL and expenses that would probably last multiple generations of lifetimes by itself, even if living upper class the entire time.

It's a funny irony that the people who win the lottery are usually those who are the least responsible. How many times have you heard of a jackpot winner being down to his last 5 dollars, and buying a ticket. Inversely, if you're responsible, you'll never play the lottery if you're struggling financially and as such you'll never win.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

He didn't "spend" the money on those two mansions, he basically just moved the money into an investment. Those homes will appreciate over time so it isn't a bad move financially at all.

I would not spend a fortune on a home like this.

I'd rather live somewhere with culture so you're actually doing something besides dominating nobodies with your wealth.

Loving the cope in this thread, *chuckle*.

Apparently spending 30m-ish out of nearly 1 billion is 'spending like there is no tomorrow'.

Let it sink in, folks.
