This "no student loan forgiveness" is extremely bad optics but it doesn't matter because "the libz have been owned." So you guys will later wonder why you lost in 2024.

The fact of the matter is people think Republicans favor the rich. And when they deny student loan forgiveness but then bail out the likes of Matt Gaetz, Jared Kushner, and Stockton Rush it only fuels those beliefs. And you Trumpers don't have an argument against those beleifs.

Much can be done to help with cost of education. #1 being no government backing on the loans, and #2 allowing the loans to be part of bankruptcy. Those two things would go a long way in reducing the costs.

State governments stopped people from working (only one State Governor did not do this, & she was a Republican, & she took zero PPP), students were allowed to go back to school, so if you want to argue their debt should be lessened for the time that schools were closed, that’s one thing, but when you stop a person from being able to provide for themselves & their family, they should be compensated.

I keep thinking you can’t get any dumber, & you keep proving me wrong.

Starting in September it's going to be Billions of dollars heading to Uncle Sam instead of consumer spending every month. That's going to have powerful effects by the end of the year. People selling cars should start job searching.
There's going to be a "safety net" period of at least 3 months with missed payments automatically being placed in forbearance, so I imagine a lot of people won't start making payments until the new year.

Also sounds like minimum payments will be cut in half.

PPP wasn't compensation, it was a loan.

Yes..I know. People were forced to take it to save their businesses from collapsing because Governments stopped them from working. When you take a person’s right away to provide for themselves, they are forced to take measures to prevent loss of business & home. Understand how that works?

Also you do understand that in order to receive PPP, you had to prove business expenses..right?

Now why do you think that is dum dum?

Because it was a business loan.

There are a lot of reasons one might choose to take out a business loan.

No one is ever forced to though.

Wrong. Again, when you take away a person’s ability to provide for themselves, & you stop them for working, you need to compensate for that. They were forced to stop working. That time/money cannot be regained. It is lost. If you are the cause for that, then you need to compensate for it.

I get it. Like people with student loans, you're in the camp that believes the government should circumstantially be able to forgive loans.

I tend to agree with you. Loans are contracts and contracts can be amended if the parties agree to the new terms.

Student loans are not comparable unless you want to adjust for the amount of time schools were closed, & compensate/adjust debt for strictly that amount of time. Just like businesses had to prove PPP was for business expenses.

I agree there are differences but not that they aren't comparable. All loans are fundamentally similar in that they are a simple contract between two or more parties.

Not when the party that draws up the contract hinders the other party’s ability to pay the opposite party.

I agree, and student loan forgiveness advocates can and have made similar arguments. That students are "forced" to take loans because the government has fostered a certain business environment yadda yadda.

The fact is both students and business owners had options.

I worked 2 jobs to put myself through school, Government did not take away this ability/right from students, that’s the difference. That’s why they aren’t comparable.

One was forced to save livelihood
The other was elected/choose to better livelihood.

The government didn't take that ability/right away from business owners either. They could have saved more prior to covid, they could have cut expenses or found other sources of revenue, or simply not carried on with the business and learned how to weld.

I forget exactly what they did, but a skateboard shop near me started selling stamps or something during covid so they could qualify as an essential business. They stayed open the entire time. Cheeky kunts.

They took away a person’s ability to provide for themselves. They need to compensate for their actions. It’s that simple.

One is forced to save livelihood
The other was chosen to better (in theory) livelihood.

They closed my wife’s business three times, & she followed all mandates.

Maybe because PPP was legally passed by Congress, enacted by the President, and hasn't been declared Unconstitutional...? PPP was designed from the beginning, not an attempted after-the-fact change.

Or maybe because many people DID oppose PPP, so your straw man deflection from yet another Biden failure is just a straw man deflection...?

Honestly, good on you for paying your own way through college and sorry about your wife's business. Srs and respect from me, that's not debatable.

My point is that PPP wasn't ever intended to be a mechanism for compensation, it was a loan.

Our only difference of opinion is if circumstances warrant student loan forgiveness similar to PPP loan forgiveness.

What are you talking about??? They forcibly shutdown businesses. Or are you trying to rewrite history here?

What are you gonna say? That expensive steakhouses for example could have......had their expensive steaks "to go?"

What would you have had the gyms do for example?

You're trying to find differences between the two loan programs while ignoring there are far more similarities.

Some students/businesses just aren't cut out for college/remaining in business. Much of the student/PPP loans were wasted. It's too hard to make it without a student/PPP loan. My student/PPP loan should be forgiven for reasons.

Is it fair to circumstantially wipe debt from students, business owners, or cancer patients? Not always, each of them sees themselves as deserving while the others don't.

Can the government still do it? Probably.

You forcibly shutdown these businesses, you either help them stay afloat, while you forcibly shut them down, or they go out of business.

Jeeze No libs seems very angry that he's going have to start paying for his useless degree he received. Pay your debt sir.

Only thing I'll agree on since I have student loans still is either get rid of the interest rates or lower the cost. You hear people coming out of school with 100k+ of debt. That's insane.
