The people out panhandling are only a subset of the homeless, and often are not even homeless. Much of the homeless are just keeping themselves away from the general pop

Think of the kids you went to school with, the special education kids. What do y’all think happens to them when they turn adults? Some of them have family that can take care of them for a bit. But many end up homeless. OPs wife saying they deserve to starve is cruel

(I don’t have a problem with self inflicted homeless starving)
Just basing it off my own experience. The people who beg around my area are all on something. The people who are in a bad spot and want to get out of it are usually helped or work their way out of it. And sure, maybe the drugs came after the homelessness for some but that doesn't mean I'm helping by feeding their drug addiction.

In the very very rare case I see someone new who is genuinely desperate for food, of course I help but I can't tell you the last time I've seen that. Maybe there's way more beggars in America than my 3rd world Caribbean island though.

Most people matured and went on with their lives but they couldn't at that point. Then they make up some BS about trama that happened to them or something as an excuse. They made decisions and they weren't the right one's and they had the information before, just chose to do what they wanted to do.
Again, you all seem so sure most have it, yet the data doesn't back that up.

Depends how you count. There’s two groups of homeless, the long term homeless and the temporary down on their luck homeless who quickly get back on their feet

At any given moment it’s about half and half. But if you count over a range of time the temporary would be in bigger numbers

But it still doesn’t mean the substance abuse is why they are homeless, in some cases it is and some cases it isn’t.

Giving beggars money is never a good idea because they will make a poor choice regardless if it is a drug based.

But in the case of drugs, JFL at anyone who thinks you can just watch a motivational Arnold video and just hit the gym and be OK. In fact, I am quite cynical about these people - they need some sort of powerful mechanism-breaking intervention.

The way the USA is trying to decriminalize drugs without appropriate support is also so wrong and will hurt them LMAO.

And also lol at people who think there aren't paths to a situation like that outside of being a dumb, lazy human.
I think we should do mandatory rehab and bring back HUMANE mental asylums.

Yeah the people begging are often aren’t even homeless (srs). They are often sacks of chit. And that’s why you shouldn’t give money to them.

What I’m trying to say is that the panhandlers aren’t representative of the general homeless population

You’re classifying people into just two groups, those who work themselves out of homeless. Or just addicts. But what about a legit real mental retard with an IQ of 50 who fell through the cracks and is homeless and may or may not be an addict? This is a large component of the homeless pop

Your wife is right. If she didn’t already have kids I’d take her off your hands. And drive looking for puddles to drive thru and soak bums with while she gives me road head.

When I used to paint graffiti I would frequent this train tracks spot with security and cops, but there was also a camp of bums who lived near. Any time I went I brought 3-4 40oz beers and gave them to the homeless bros to yell if they saw security. Brought a pizza once too.

So if they lost everything, how are they affording drugs?

If they have all their faculties about them, why would they not take advantage of the programs specifically meant to help the homeless reintegrate into society?

Have you ever met poor people? Lived with them and around them? Seen how they operate? I have. I've been at ground zero. There's a reason they're poor, just like there's a reason homeless are homeless.

Unless they are literally orphans, how irresponsible and dangerous do you have to be to have literally zero family members willing to let you crash with them until you're on your feet? No parents, uncles, aunts, siblings, friends, or anything? You're telling me these people managed to make zero emotionally connections with people that would help them out while they got back on their feet.

Nah son, they're homeless for a reason. The ones that work their chit out eventually make it, but many doomed themselves.

If you wanna feed them, go for it. It's giving them cash that won't do chit but enable bad habits.

Why do you mainly see signs begging for money instead of signs offering to work for money? Why are they not asking for some money to mow someone's lawn? Standing there begging with no intention of doing anything won't solve goddamn thing.

Two questions trOllP.

1. Does your wife work? If not, then this attitude of hers is unjustified as she doesn’t even support herself.

2. Does she go to church or claim to be Christian? If she does, then her attitude is directly against Christianity and she’s a fake Christian.

Obviously, given that I believe anyone can end up in bad circumstances, I believe in some sort of safety net welfare.

But that welfare should be like a voucher based system that qualifies only for certain products instead of cash. E.g. Walmart bulk order chicken tits would be a qualifying product.

Otherwise, people who for one reason or another

When it comes to drugs, there are two parts

a) Those who create the drug environment

b) Those who fall victim

Mind=blown that war on drugs involves developing a vast criminal rap sheet of users so they are basically guaranteed to have a bad life.

And now the USA is decriminalising that but without appropriate support which in turn will cause more usage, more crime and normal people will turn against it even though it has been successful in Portugal and the Netherlands.

Instead, every country should adopt harsh penalties for drug trafficking like Singapore to punish those that are trying to entrepreneur max on it.

What about someone mentally disabled with an IQ of 50 and their family it either non exist at or couldn’t deal with it anymore? A lot of homeless are this type. Are they irresponsible for being homeless?

Our country used to institutionalize them and they weren’t homeless. But we wanted to save money so now we have a homeless crisis

As I said, most are not even on drugs. And drugs also are not that expensive. Many also perform sexual favors or act as literal slaves to obtain drugs. What programs dude? Do you have any idea how short staffed such programs are? And they mainly only favor women and kids. Men are rarely helped. Go look at how hard it is to get into a shelter for example.

Yes. I have. Many are uneducated. So what? You are blaming them for their poverty.

You say that when tons of miscers here have no support structure. How does this shock you?

You're rationalizing bullshyt. Again, most are neither addicts nor mentally ill. But whatever. I guess you were always a LARPing Christian. Christ would have helped them fyi.

There are no lawns in the city, and I have literally seen "will work for money/food" signs. Go drive by a home depot and see how many men want to work.

They are begging because it is literally the best chance they have of getting food and money that day. Tons of people walk the city streets. If they beg for 8 hrs, my guess is they will walk away with $20-50, and that covers food and saving some supplies. Also, these people get robbed a lot. You're being incredibly heartless.

I hope u never have to experience homelessness one day. But like I said, maybe it would be good if we had an economic collapse, and Americans are reminded of what poverty is. China, India, and Russia get it, but Americans seem to have forgotten. Part of why Euros get is is because they lived through it when they had everything bombed out and ruined. They had to rebuild society. Twice.

Only thing is the ones that seem legitimately crazy are the ones I rarely see begging. They're the ones walking around mumbling or yelling to themselves wearing tons of clothes regardless of the weather. The ones I see begging are usually able bodied people.

All anecdotal, but it's what I see near me.

I think if they're smart enough to know they need money, they're smart enough to work for it.

True, but OPs wife wasn’t only talking about beggars. She was talking about all men including the homeless non beggars. If you can’t work, you shouldn’t eat is what she said basically (if you are a man)

If all the wife said was don’t give money to beggars, that would be good. But then she went on to say a man should starve if he’s not able to provide for himself

I think all the homeless should be rounded up and mashed to be used as fertilizer, food for our animals, and bones can be used to make industrial soap.

200% srs.

you know how during auto****y our body replaces, recycles, and destroys damaged proteins, this is an important step, kinda like when you clean up your house, or take a shower, we need to constantly destroy and replace the waste, bums on the street are a waste, like feces that come out of our asses, they need to be gotten rid of,

When we don’t clean up the garbage in our bodies, we end up with cancer, all these mutations, such as protesters, bums, ****philes, politicians, bankers, trannies, all those are mutated and damaged organisms, they need to be destroyed before they develop into cancer.
