Again, people weren't wearing them properly so they were largely ineffective.

Jenna Ortega had the Rona while doing Wednesday, was that irresponsible of her to still do the show? Should she have held up production and sat at home?

The IFR would have gone down to that level anyway sans vaccines, but unfortunately it would have required tens of thousands of elderly dying before it happened. The biggest drops in the IFR happened because so much of the population had already been infected (with stronger immunity afterward than the vaccines could give) and then once Omicron came along the IFR immediately fell by a factor of at least 8. In the end the vaccines shielded some elderly and obese middle aged people in 2021. By now the IFR would be the same as it is if the vaccines didn't exist, but again yes tens of thousands of elderly would have died without them.Correct, with the introduction of the vaccines.
Prior infection makes a second infection much more mild. The vaccines give rather transient protection, in antibodies and T cells. And we know why.
103 million Americans infected in 2020 alone, per peer reviewed study by Colombia University's school of public health. All that infection was a large wall of built up immunity/resistance to illness. Of course there was plenty more infection to go around before infection fatality rates would have dropped to the level they did with the vaccines in 2021.
Barely anyone has gotten any boosters in the last 18 months and fatality keeps dropping even though in those 18 months we've had over half a billion infections in the US alone. I was massively pro vax when they were announced in late 2020. Their transient nature made my heart drop though in summer of 2021 when the next variant came along and didn't protect the vaxed as hoped. There's a reason people early on called Omicron an accidental vaccine. Nature did the world a bigger favor than the vaccines.
And again, the Spanish Flu had a 5% fatality rate. Less in the US because we had less malnourished people and were still a slim and much younger population than we are today. The Spanish Flu also didn't have the stratification of death by age that Covid did. Spanish Flu killed the young. Covid primarily killed the sickest of our elderly. Half of the elderly 2020 deaths were people in nursing homes, the sickest population we have. It was rarely dropping retired Bill and Susan that go for morning walks and are a healthy weight. The #1 comorbidity in 2020 among the dead was not even diabetes or obesity. It was dementia, which is people who health wise are beyond the frailty of diabetes and obesity, though they usually have or had those in their past. #2-3 comorbidities were liver failure (people already with it) and liver disease. Most of that is from decades of schit diet.

Honestly I have been to the hospital once in my life for getting my tonsils taken out. I have been to a doctors office maybe a grand total of 5 times in my life. I have been to an orthopedist once.
I walked into a hospital admissions office here in S Cal a few years ago to get a shoulder x ray. Saw the people there. Walked right out.
I am over 45 years old.
I avoid doctors and hospitals if at all possible. The only reason I went to the doctors was when I had pneumonia in my 20s, and the only reason I went to the ortho was to get an MRI on my shoulder, neck, and elbow. Turns out I have a right shoulder completely shot, a right elbow with a chip the size of a quarter in it, and a disc in my neck bulging out about a half an inch
They want to do surgery on all 3.
I said no.
I just know from visiting people in the hospital how germ infested it is. Many people over the age of 70 go in there?
They never come out. A mask in that situation is not that much of a hindrance.

The masks and bragging about getting jabbed every time a fresh new booster drops gives them a smug sense of superiority. Once you look at it like that then most everything the Branch Covidians do will make sense.
It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.
