Did you go to the beach? When I go to places like that I avoid shopping as much as possible and actively seek out a spot overflowing with HBB's preferably playing volleyball or otherwise bouncing around.

I can definitely sympathise with the overpriced mediocre food, I still remember with pain the 1st time I paid $120 for lunch for my family in a beach town. Now I use Urban Spoon to find locally owned little places off the beaten path, may have to drive a couple miles but well worth it and you actually get a sense of the local flavor.
