Lol at being so poor one has to go against hogs without a Saiga 12.

Just lol.
The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Zenitka slut, checking in. Put my first PT-3 on a 103 clone, and swapped a PT-1 onto a 101 build.

I'm always angry.

Been awhile since I went to the range. I haven't bought ammo since COVID so it was refreshing to see prices come back down. Just purchased 2,000 rounds 9mm 124gr for $620. Looking forward to practicing again.

i realize this subject has been beaten to death, but 9mm is the clear best choice for pistol caliber because in a defensive situation shot placement is what really matters, and the higher capacity and lighter recoil of 9mm over .40 & .45 make it more capable of more precise shot placement. and 9mm ammo is also cheaper, so you can shoot more rounds at the range.

i still like .45, 10mm and .44 mag but 9mm is king

Forgot if I posted about this earlier - anyone here try one of the Appleseed programs? Did a 2 day program with my two boys. Great weekend of shooting and focusing on rifle marksmanship, with some history thrown in regarding the American Rifleman of the Revolutionary War. This was the main program - targets at 25 yards, mostly shooting .22, but scaled to 100-400m on paper, based on the Army Qual Test. One of my boys and I got the "Rifleman Badge", comparable to shooting Expert, I was told. Also passed the "Morgan's Shingle" challenge, another fun test. Great instruction for precision shooting, fired near 400 rounds over the weekend. Would highly recommend.

Even more so for a first gun. I like variety as much as anyone and have a few exotics kicking around in my gun room, but straight plain jane is just better for someone starting out.

Heard good things but never done it. How old are your boys? I need to look and see if there is one in my area. Love shooting .22s.

Finally got to shoot my Staccato P. First 19/2011 style I've shot for a full day at the range. Hnnnnngggggg. Still not replacing my G17 though.

Oldest is 16, younger is 14. Oldest actually outshot me by a few points on his qualifier - younger made it to the high sharpshooter range - couple more attempts, he'd probably have got it. I've been more focused on pistols - want more time with my beretta, start holster work, IDPA / steel. But it was good to relearn the basic marksmanship lessons I was exposed to in scouts years back, and have it taught to the boys. IF interested, will start the first of my daughters next year. The 2 day program - first day was mostly the "school" part, zeroing the rifles, etc. 2nd day was mostly the Appleseed Qualifier Test, over and over. Standing, sitting/kneeling, prone. So all said, I qualified twice. Start and finish each day with the Redcoat challenge - 3 shots at the equivalent of a 100, 200, 300, 400 yd man-sized target, then 1 shot at "Morgans Shingle" - scaled for head sized at 250 yards, so about a postage stamp. Get all 13 on target, you get the "Immortal 400" patch too - being in MD, that's a bonus historical reference. Got 12/13 by the end of the first day, 13/13 end of 2nd, so got that patch too. Whereabouts are you? Bottom line, the program was everything I hoped for, and plan to do it again. Both the standard, and the pistol program.

Don't need much hardware either - my scoped 10/22 with extra mags was sufficient. You do use slings, so I bought a synthetic stock with lugs, and a GI sling - that was the only other mod. Pull back bolt release mod (if you're a 10/22 guy) is also something I'd recommend.

Nice, I have 16- and 11-year-old sons (and a 14-year-old daughter). All have been shooting with me a bit.

I'm in Idaho. I went to their website and there are some in the state, but not very close. Might make a fun trip with the kids, though.

I didn't buy too much cause I'm hoping by the time I buy more it'll drop to around 20c lol. I doubt it'll go back to being that cheap tho, idk.

So brahs..the Ar10 arrives early next week. Ive seen they make 25/20/15/and 10 rd mags for these….Im guessing the 25rd mag is overkill for an ar10…it would be way too heavy and large..so I went with 3 20 rd mags from wilson combat and 3 10rd mags from Magpul…..are there any good mag pouches you can reccomend? Ive only seen some eagle industries on ebay

Is it worth to wait for holiday sales? Seems like all the chit sells out. Or I see holiday sale! and its only marked down like 100 bucks. Right now the money is good but slow season will be late december/january. Logistic sales here.

I am a former/inactive Appleseed instructor.

Definitely good stuff.

Liberty is supposed to be the #1 word/takeaway from an Appleseed. The shooting/marksmanship is the hook to get people in to talk about Liberty. Good shooting, Rifleman is minimum score of 210/250 and stage 2 is fairly quick, it requires a level of proficiency with operation of your rifle including mag changes on the clock

Still haven't bought my AR setup yet. I'm so indecisive at the moment, I don't know if I should just get a good quality longer barrel AR-15 setup for longer distance. Or get a pistol AR next to satisfy my shtf/home defense, or maybe even get a .308 rifle to shoot longer distance. I wouldn't mind an AR10 build either.

INB4 I'm told to just buy one of each.

MOS sucks. Do your own research you should conclude the same.

I recommend getting a regular model and have the slide milled for the optic of your choice. Getting an RMR milled footprint gives you the ability to use several different optics.

You will likely buy another at some point, if I'm reading your firearm interest level correctly.

Buy one based on your most important use for that firearm.
If it's HD, look into your options for that. I've posted options recently if that helps.

If you want to shoot little groups, definitely consider an upper with a match barrel. Mil spec barrel + match ammo = meh, match barrel + match ammo =

A 5.56 gun isn't the greatest for true long distance shooting, and neither is a semi auto .308.

Go to a range and test some out. The bolt action gun will be horrible for home defense but the best for long distance. Long distance is relative though..if its less than 500 yards still with an AR IMO. If you want an all around gun I would go with an 18" Ar15. I got the Ruger MPR and its solid
