Any other Fuji shooters in here? Was always a Canon guy before but fell in love with the X100t. Will eventually get another FF Canon with a 24-70 2.8 but with the portability and iq of the X100 I am in no rush.

There are fireworks by my place every day during Stampede. Decided to give shooting fireworks a try. Its only like 10 minutes long and was really windy so was hard to actually get a sharp image. This was my best shot. Gonna try again on Saturday night. Sorta have things dialed in now.
Also saw this video a couple days ago. Thought it was pretty cool

Picked up an a7rii. Quite an upgrade from my t3i. about 1/3 of the way through a 400 page book I got just so I could learn how to use the cocksucker. These are with the 55 1.8, my 24-70 2.8 arrives monday. Haven't been in here for a while, hope you all are having a good time.

I wish you guys had some sort of reference for which cameras and lenses you use. It would be neat.
I'm into street and landscapes and I've only recently started like last fall, with an a6000 w/35mm. I'm holding off on buying anything else because I'll likely upgrade to an A7III for the long haul when it comes out.

Just a suggestion but don't be afraid to shoot a pano without proper pano gear. Even if you don't want to present it as a pano it will give you more pixels to work with for perspective correction later.
Unless you've got something in the immediate foreground you shouldn't have any parallax issues โ it wouldn't have been an issue with that shot. Just shoot for 30%+ overlap and work quickly to minimize ghosting.

4 minute exposure during an overcast day using a 10stop ND.
Wanted to see how the water would look, happy with the outcome on the fall and around the rocks, but the full transparency of the river isn't appealing in this case IMO, it could definitely work for a riverbed with more detail/vibrant colours but not in this case.

I've been nervous with panos recently, but do have some hike photos where I can practice some expertise on this topic.

Practice shooting panos in the day first before trying them at night.

At night the hardest part is going to be judging the overlap. A tripod head with degree markings on the base will help a lot. You can work out for a given focal length (i.e. 24mm) and orientation (vertical/horizontal) how many degrees equates to overlap %. After a while you'll get a feel for it and don't need to look at the markings. Turning grid lines on in live view helps when you've got a subject that is bright enough to see on the back. I don't think the D5100 has them in the viewfinder.

oh boy, I already know some people who are wet for this already.
Portraits will be juicy.
Still saving money for a nifty 20mm 1.4 Sigma Art (although the 18-35 is tempt too!)

14-24 2.8 was a big deal and continues to be. Took Canon nearly a decade to respond to it and they went wider but sacrificed a stop.
What I like about the 105 1.4 is you could easily cover for a 135 f/1.8 or f/2 with 1.2x crop mode and still get approximately 25mp files on a D810.
