Just looked it up, it's called the world of cyberpunk ... turns out im going out to the mall today, but the bookstore that has it isnt at the mall i'm going to ... my lifepath is now diverted to that mall hehe, hopefully they have it in stock.

It's a pretty quick read. I just split it between a couple afternoon sessions after work. But filled with a chit ton of great info and gives you a good feel for how the city/world will feel.

I'm done with mine and don't really have a reason to re read it. If someone wants to give me like $25 for it, you can have it. (It's a $60 book.)

A meta overview of each article's summary shows some recurring themes:

-None of them got remotely close to finishing the game. Many commented it took as long as 6 hours just to get to the title screen - lead up to getting Johnny Silverhand into your head comparable to White Orchard + Kaer Mohren flashback in Witcher 3. Lots of fetch/bounty type quests, but also many interesting side stories.
-Consensus that characters are fleshed out, and choices heavily impact your relationship even when not directly tied to doing major quests or killings.
-Lifepath choice heavily impacts dialogue and therefore relationships - e.g. Corpo V can see through BS of other corpos and leverage business connections, but will have no luck opening up extra options with Nomads.
-Also consensus of being able to approach missions in many different ways (hacking, stealth, finding shortcuts, social engineering, etc.)
-Many reported melee combat being satisfying. Hacking provides lots of options. Satisfaction with gunplay. Some concern over enemies feeling like bullet sponges at times. Stealth gameplay good but AI a bit dodgy. Overall a TON of viable ways to engage in combat, can even go full melee with the right build.
-Enemy netrunners add new dynamic to combat, can install malware on you from a distance even when behind cover.
-Lots of romance options, you can hire prostitutes and dildos are apparently everywhere in Night City.
-Driving is much improved from earlier builds. One spent hours driving around, reported not having to fight anyone while doing it.
-Consensus that game looks beautiful, RTX on adds extra oomph.
-Obvious Witcher 3 influence in RPG mechanics, but also carryover of dark themes. Not like GTA at all, despite latest marketing.
-Most reported experiencing bugs and wishing for more polish, but apparently nothing major was reported (mostly stuff like missing text, UI glitches, objects clipping, etc.). No crashes or corrupted saves reported.
-Most complained about being overwhelmed with quests but not being able to manage them properly.


Only CDPR can kill hype and bring it right back up like this.

I wonder if you can get the police after you for shtty driving, hit a car or drive on the sidewalk, ect. or if it's not a problem.

There's a wanted system similar to GTA, but it should function similar to Witcher 3 in that you need to do serious crimes to attract their attention. There's also a territory system, since cops only control part of the city - it may be corporate security or local gangs setting you straight.

If you pile up too many bodies though, you will be labeled a "cyberpsycho" and a special forces team (MaxTac) will come after you.

I'm pretty relieved reading this, mostly because stories up until this point were pretty mixed.

Read a few of it .... it's definitely well worth a purchase. Lot of lore/backstory ... I cant wait until I get to the part where they talk about the different districts and gangs since that's what we're getting in game. I feel like I need to get a physical map of the game.

CDPR has updated requirements. Looks like the game is gonna need some power if you're planning to play at the higher end!

What does this mean in terms of fps?

If I run CDPR's reqs for my system, I should get 60 fps?

A german reviewer said when he played it via cpdr it was running at 1440 60fps on a 3090.

So my rig is currently at high 1440p with no ray tracing ...... I think I can push this with dlss 1080p with high and minimal rtx ..... not so bad ...., but i'm gonna crank up the visuals as much as I can, as long as I get 45-60 fps.... within that range im good to go.

Hoping I can get away with high rtx tho.




edit - also wow, even rtx ultra needs a ryzen 5 3600? seems like the game is more gpu bound then? with the settings changed, does this mean that the game got far more optimized or that they had to scale back on things? i'm guessing it's the former rather than the latter because most devs dont give a chit about optimizing for pc.

Honestly, I have no idea. That's sort of the crappy thing about "specs and requirements" for games. You never really know what frame rate the developer is saying you will achieve with these given specs.

damn looks like RT will be a huge drain in performance. My specs are good for 1080p high with a high refresh rate screen but it'll struggle in the lowest RT settings.

Has there been a game where RT hasn't set fire to a system? Lol

I dont know how deep the rtx was implemented ...but I played everything on ultra with rtx ..... ran smooth as butter.

I honestly think that was the most optimized game I've played on my pc so far .... I'll wait for benchmarks to prove my dumbass wrong, but I played that game with all these settings, and it was glorious for me, no slowdowns, no hitches, nothing ... everything felt so damn good. Placebo? might have been, I might have been playing at 45 fps for all I know .... but it felt fkkn smooth to me.

Hmm. Overclocked 2080ti and 5.0ghz i9-9900k for me. Hoping that was without DLSS. Would be dope to play on high at 4k with high RT, with quality DLSS. But might be dreaming.
