I like the steiny for the $500 you pay for it. Love the crystal on it. I've owned two of them and they're well worth the price. As long as Rolex isn't on the dial I don't see the problem with it. I like the looks of vintage subs and dwellers, but would never pay the price for them. Fit and finish is miles away from what they offer now, not worth it IMO. The bracelet on the vintage models is crap. If anything is save some bucks and go for a vintage Tudor sub and throw it on a leather strap.

Has a second interview for a job I'm really excited about today. Nailed it. Interview kinda came out of left field, but I'm super stoked. Would be a huge bump in my salary. If I get it I'm for sure nabbing a Rolex GMT batman, hulk, or a Panerai 372/422. Had my heart set on a sea dweller 4000, but this pelagos has completely satiated my love for divers. Hmmmm or maybe a polar explorer….

We have similar taste. I currently have a GMT IIc, a Hulk, and previously had a pam320. And i'm currently trying to convince my friend to buy himself a Batman lol.

I think if I get another Rolex, flipped a no date sub, it may have to be a GMT model. I love the batman, they absolutely knocked it out of the park with that color scheme. I also love the polar explorer and the matte white dial and the comical black outlined indices are hhhhnnnggggg. If they bring out a SS Pepsi ceramic then it's game over.

Misc has anyone dealt with Fischer&Cie? Better yet has anyone actually ordered from them? Would like to know how smoothly the transaction went and if you were happy with the finished product.

This, but I think we will be holding our breath for a long while BLNR is the next best thing at the minute in my eyes, I love that colour combination. What if a SS Coke gets released? I'm 50:50 on whether that would trump the BLNR, I've always sorta seen the black/red combo as dull

Funny you should say that , I had more compliments/people noticing my Tommy Hilfiger "fashion" watch than I do my Rolex.

Wife bought me a Pepsi GMT before sending it back for the one I currently wear (black GMT 2).

not a huge coke bezel fan. I think the black/blue is a nice combo (better than coke), the Pepsi is the most flashy for sure due to the contrasting blue/red, the blnr is a bit more reserved, and I like the representation of night/day with black blue much better than black/red or red/blue, but I agree in that as far as aesthetically pleasing goes, the Pepsi is still the best color combo. It's too bad it's only available in white gold right now cause it is a really nice looking piece.

I wear mine exclusively on NATO. Look into the aftermarket oyster bracelets that are offered by companies for the skx007. They're between 50-120 dollars, but they're supposed to be miles ahead of the original jubilee POS on the 007

Like it a lot. I've been considering the difference between "homage" and "replica" lately. Now, a Steinhart is more of a mass produced homage. But I like it. There is a whole community of handmade custom "homage" watches; mainly Rolex and Panerai. And so far as I can tell, those guys (small community) build these watches for the love of the style and the challenge around custom making certain parts (such as the crystal, cases, etc) and not because they want to sell them as if they were the original. That, and they can't afford the $75k that some of the actual 1930's Panerai or Rolex's would cost. Some take months or over a year to make because of the sourcing of parts, or original 80 year old movements, etc. But I've inspected a couple, will likely buy one in particular; and the workmanship is absolutely solid.

ETA 2824-2, black maxi dial, domed hesalite crystal, free leather strap and deployment clasp with pre-orders. And limited edition of 150 (I got #25). Worth a punt.

The Obris Morgan poverty Isofrane knockoff arrived today. It's….

fantastic! I've had Cuda's, but this is better, and 1/3 the cost ($19 shipped). No way I'll pay $100 for an Isofrane now. Ever.

Good for the multitude of colors I've heard, but if you're gonna rock one day to day, isofrane is the way to go. I may pick an orange one up for my pelagos doe.

so many options. strapcode I think has an oyster and other designs but they're a bit pricey but probably worth it.

I'm jelly because I got an orient ray and there's not a single goddamn bracelet to be found either original or aftermarket with the right end links. The ray/mako is a POS version of skx. Should have just gone with seiko

Interesting, I didn't realize this was a doctor's watch.

the outer ring of numbers is the heart rate, and if you count 15 pulses, it will give you the rate.

that's pretty cool I ad assumed it was just a regular tachyameter, but at second glance it does say right on the dial pulse lol. Secondly I prefer my Mako's to my skx 10 fold. The mako's i have are finished to a much better standard IMO, and the bracelets are much better than the skx jubilee, just my opinion, based on comparison between the two.

Sweet thread. Just came across it.

The last few days I've been looking at mechanical watches. The way they work and actually seeing the individual components inside is pretty cool. Makes me want to buy one.

The watch I'm using at the moment was bought a few months ago. Not hugely expensive but I love the way it looks and fits. The name of the series and the history behind it struck a chord as well since I'm wanting to be a pilot, and coupled with it being handmade sealed the deal when I was deliberating between a few different watches.

Zeppelin 7680M1. Attached the images since for some reason when posting them, the image quality goes to sh*t.

It can't be $80 better. This one looks and feels GREAT, and infinitely better than the cuda's.

I think the cudas suck a nut tbh. Pro tip to shaping it. This worked like a charm for the stiff rubber strap my marinemaster 300 came with. Roll it up and put it in a shot glass and pour near boiling water in it. It will curve and sit so well on your wrist. I just poured water from a keurig in the shot glass sitting in a coffee mug. Repeat x 1 and it fit great after.
