eCommerce is a legit way to make great money. I havent officially made money yet, so I'm speaking a little outside my circle of knowledge. I personally know people making very good money because they identified a trend and branded early. Low start up cost, just sourced some cheap stuff from china and sold online for crazy margins. One of his best sellers is $18., he buys it for .25 per unit. It took him 4 years to find the hit, until he found the trend he was making a little here and there but nothing substantial.

The life I want is typical, get a hbb wife, make chit loads of $$$ with various businesses, success, wealth, money, power, luxury, significance, freedom, happiness, wealth, love. Pretty much everything.

My skills are primarily programming, both web and software. Bit versatile and rounded elsewhere, but thats my main strength

What do you mean what do I care about? Things that benefit me I guess as a priority, then everything else

I like to come up with loads of ideas for anything, my mind doesn't stop.


Heres what I've been doing so far:

-The past month I have been writing a diary, pretty much a todolist of every day, with hours assigned, to help me get on track. I also have a diary
-Been reading for about 2 months now various books, on business, self improvement, motivation, psychology, etc
-Working on 2 business ideas, since I got no job prospects. I'm on "death grounds" so to speak, so its been helping me
-Been working on them since a few months ago, but only til last month have I been working on them full time, about 10 hours a day, because i finished uni exams
-First one is a consulting business for some web application im building. The scope is very high, and it will take me about another month or two to get most of the core features done, if I focus on it
-Second one is an ecommerce drop shipping website. Found a niche, but still talking to suppliers. Sent proposals to 16 suppliers, only 2 responded once, and 1 I am most likely to be dealing with, but he has gone NC on me recently.
-Which lead to me wasting the past 3 days (including today) doing nothing. I pretty much "binged on videogames", like a depressed person who got divorced binges on alcohol, since the manufacturer went NC for 3 days. I'm just starting to get into habit/routine/momentum again, and your post help me do that, even just a little
-These two "low cost" businesses are only means to an end. I do enjoy working on them, but it isn't my dream business. My dream business will take too long to setup, so I'm using these as stepping stones, so I can fund my dream business. Also its more risky, and has less potential to make big $$$ than the ones I am doing right now.

IDK brahs. I've tried to be positive, but it hasn't really paid off. i consider myself mostly realistic. I try not to be too negative about things, but I evaluate the situation as it is. It's kept me going. I haven't achieved my dreams, but I'm not dead at least.

Nobody can tell you what industry to get into, you have to check em out and pick the one that will give you the life you're after. Software sales is big $$$, so is programming to a lesser extent. It takes a while to pay off, and why be realistic? My aspirations are completely unrealistic, but thats what make life exciting.

Software sales is just selling software. For example, One company makes a medical or banking software that is better than the others for whatever reason, and the salesman tries to sell the banks or hospital the software his company makes. These software purchases can be hyooge when implented in a large chain nationwide, you're talking thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of licenses in one software. Premium software can be well over $100 per license. If the salesman gets 20% commision, thats a LOT of money in their pocket. Im sure a software salesman will be able to correct me where I'm wrong, I dont know much about that industry.

Interesting. Never knew how that could be very popular and profitable

It might be a good field to get into, but imo IoT is emerging, from what I have researched. I would do something IoT related, but it usually requires high startup costs because of the physical making-the-physical-aspect product of it

Thanks for this op.

I started out this year gung ho. Wanting to heal injuries, heal insecurities, develop an online business, and becoming a digital nomad.

Then i lost my job, and developed an illness in the summer - which i have to manage daily.

I needed this reminder to get back on track, and practice the kind of things you list.

It's all about habits and rituals that keep you there. Every morning I listen to something motivational or uplifting. I will be late to work if it means skipping that part of my day or being late. The reminders on my phone go off to remind me, and I review what's important to me and who I want to be everyday.

Overall I believe mindset is the most important thing that we have control over. Once I was convinced of that, I focused all my energy on the mindset.

Looks like you've got some specific things that are triggering emotional states. What I would personally do is write a 10 minute journal about something that bothers you or pulls you out of a good mindset.

Matter of fact, I have a 10 minute journal when I was having a hard time believing in myself and thinking I was a loser, lemme post it.

10 minute journal.

Problem: not believing I am capable of success in the way I want it

What makes me so ****ing special? Why do I have these grandeous visions for my life when I'm 24 and still live at home and don't have any career plans and have 2 and a half years till I get a bachelors? I have done nothing right in career terms yet here I am believing I'm gonna effortlessly find abundance when I have ****all to offer.

Well, what makes someone qualified to do the things I wanna do? Experience, reading relevant books, honest self reflection, over a long time. Ok so I haven't done a whole lot of that but I do it all now regularly. The only thing that makes me different from who I want to be is what I know. So I have to experience and read.

What action can I take?: I can try things and read as much as possible. I can talk to successful people and possibly get a mentor type relationship going. I can take risks, even if it means just losing money to learn, that will be money well spent.

What can't I control?: the market, the economy, trends.

What am I worried about?: that I will continue to try new things and spin my wheels till I'm 30 with no prospects.

Is this worry realistic? Well, I'm doing all the right things, I've tried businesses in the past and learned a lot, im sure when the next opportunity presents itself I will execute much better than I have in the past. So no, not really. Also, everybody takes their own time, I will succeed when I have put the right effort in for long enough and seize the right opportunities. There are millions of self made millionaires, there is no reason I can't be a self made 6 figga nikka.

What can you do? Keep reading. Keep eyes open for opportunities. Keep going to school. Trust the process.

i only read up to this part of the thread and this is true on so many levels. I took out literally every negative person from my life and I started seeing immediate dividends. Positive thinking helps but cutting some people off aids in that as well.

My mom goes on and on about the secret and the law of attraction and all that chit, but I've always thought it was stupid. I used to worry a lot and tended to expect the worst when things happened. I was pretty unhappy most of the time and my luck seemed to be terrible. Whenever I paid off something, a new random bill came in the mail. I hated my job, had no idea what I was gonna do with my life, I was lonely, and was anxious all the time. So I set a new years resolution last year to commit to maintaining a positive mindset.

Journal entry from December 31st 2015:

"Why is everything going to ****? What have I done to cause this? I mean, it must me my fault right? We control our lives right? I lift, I hit my macros, I read, I go to work, I'm nice to people, I dont spend money for no reason, yet here I am doing nothing on new years eve broke as **** feeling like ****. I dont get it. I even meditate why the hell do I feel like this all the time? Mom says I'm too negative and I'm gonna be miserable my whole life with this mindset. But she buys into the secret bull****. How is visualizing good things happening gonna change anything??? Makes no sense. IDK a lot of people buy into that ****. Maybe there is something to it. **** it, I dont have anything to believe in, why not just buy into this ****. If anything, it'll probably make me feel better. Ok so whats wrong with my life?
-I'm lonely
-I'm broke
-I have no idea what Im doing with my life
-I want to start some sort of business but I have no fukn clue what to do.
-I need to get my own place
-I need to get school back on track.
-I got laid two times all year.
-I barely see my friends
-I never meet people
-I'm anxious all the time
-My room and car are a mess
-I'm late to everything

Ok so approaching this from the positive visualization way, what do I want?
-Great gf or fun fukbuddies. Prolly not a gf, idk if I want that.
-Pay off debt
-Some sort of direction in life
-My own business/ some independent source of income
-Start going out more
-Chill da **** out.
-Get to places on time

Aright **** it, heres to 2016, year of delusional positivity".


Today

-ZERO DEBT
-Run a business
-Transferred out of Community college!
-amazing girlfriend
-Great group of friends, great social life
-Very rarely nervous or worried.
-Much closer to my family.



What I did

-Every single morning I watched some sort of motivational or uplifting video
-Listened to a lot of podcasts
-Read 49 books directly related to mindset, business, or other topics that interest me
-Glanced at a note in my iphone with quotes or reminders a few times a day

-10 minute worry journal. If something was bothering me, I set a 10 minute timer and wrote out what the issue was, what I could do to fix it, what I cant change, and why it upset me. When the timer went off, I forced it out of my mind. Every single problem I've had this year has had a simple action to take or habit to form, or was not worth worrying about.

-reminders went off on my phone every few hours that said "stay the course".

-Every night before bed, I'd review my day, and re-write a description of my life as I want it to be in the present tense. Usually left me feeling grateful and fired up.

-Whenever something struck my attention, I followed it.

-Whenever I thought I should work on something, I committed to it. Stupid example, I cant draw or write legibly. So at least once a day I'd start doodling, trying to draw perfect shapes and write the alphabet out as well as I could in print and in cursive. I used to be basically fluent in spanish, but I lost some of it. At work I started helping spanish speaking customers and my phone is in spanish. I read spanish wikipedia pages when I look chit up, and I'm pretty close to fluent again.




Coincidences

Two different times this year I got an unexpected bill I couldnt afford at the time in the mail. Instead of stressing, I put it in my folder and said "It'll work out one way or another". BOTH TIMES I got an unexpected check in the mail. One was a class action lawsuit from an old job I quit two years ago. Apparently they broke labor laws that year. That check was $32 more than the unexpected bill. The other time I got reimbursed for a membership I was never able to use. I meant to cancel, I guess I didnt, got billed for two years, and sent an email saying "hey, I meant to cancel this like two years ago, didnt realize I was still being billed. I guess I should pay more attention to my finances. Anyway, I cancelled through the website but just wanted to make sure the cancellation went through. Thanks". ~6 months later I got a check in the mail for the full amount of my two years of membership, which came out to something like $100 more than a medical bill that I wasnt expecting.


I was driving in my city, ran into a friend who had just come back from college. She yelled out to me: "HEYYYY PARK SOMEWHERE IM HAVING A GRAD PARTY!!" I parked, said hi, walked in to a family function. I get in line for the taco stand right behind this HBB. Happened to know her sister, we clicked immediately and talked most of the day. She left, I didnt get her number or anything. Literally the next day I stopped by a mall that I never go to to get my friend a birthday present, and she was in the store. Got her number, and for the last 6 months she has been the perfect girlfriend, there is nothing I dont like about her.

-Found a need in a market and decided to try to fill it. Posted that i was looking for an artist, within 5 minutes got a response. Saw some of his artwork and loved it. Crazy coincidence, this fukn guys hobby is the same as mine and he has big connections in the industry. He showed a sample to his friend, a very well known guy in the industry. The guy pre-ordered 50 units. 50 units per month was my one year goal. I was aiming to hit that by November 2017, but January 2017 is already set with 53 pre-orders.

i could go on and on, I kinda already have.



I cant believe how this year has been for me. 2016 has been the greatest year of my life so far, and the only thing I changed was deciding to buy into the law of attraction. I dont think theres some mystical force that attracts what you think about, I think its a psychological thing that helps you make better decisions and live every moment with the big picture in mind. It seems like you can look at the life you visualize everyday and compare your current behavior with that as the final goal. Whenever you're faced with a decision, you can choose based on what will bring you closer to that life.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me, I went from being super negative to super positive and BOOM **** happened. Not quite there yet. But will be!

Really need to get into this way of life. I'm naturally a pretty optimistic and positive person, I enjoy my life and have financial security for the time being with a great house and gf+family, so I can vouch it drives you to get places.

However, Ive gotten stuck in a rut like a lot of people where my job has gone sour, to the point I dread going. I know what the answer is, but I've got a very well paying engineering job that most would kill for with my education paid for and it pays the mortgage and bills comfortably.

I've not really got any discernible skills or any million dollar business ideas I could fully back to take a leap of faith either. This could really be a case of the grass being greener on the other side, but I know for a fact I don't like the job at all and need to do something about it.

I may take 2017 as a chance to turn this all around.

In on this, when I'm working I'm so easily able to stay sober, positive and use my free time effectively (what very little I have), and then I will get an extended period of time off after making a bunch of money with the best plan for the next 2 months all the positive things I'm going to do and lifestyle I'm going to live and then completely fail every time mostly due to what some might classify as alcoholism (won't drink for weeks while out on the boat though).

Have another month of yet still though so going to try again now, have so many things I should/could be doing, heading to the mountains for a couple days first though.

Keep it up OP, did you go completely sober?

the only issue i take with this is this: this positive thinking stuff is not new. it's old stuff that has been rebraned, but in a very 'quick fix' sort of way.

positive thinking is not gonna work if you just start thinking positive, and it goes against your SELF. real change has to come from challenging and removing deep core beliefs about your limitations, not just the peripheral mantaras you state to yourself.

'Belief work' (and I have worked with therapists) doesn't do much for me.

What works for me is changing what I focus on, and creating new physical/behavior habits. Changing what I focus on tends to change my beliefs, but directly working on beliefs isn't as powerful for me.

Quick example:

Focusing my thoughts, and imagination on people who have triggered frustration vs focusing my thoughts and imagination on people who's company I enjoy.

Practising saying hello with eye contact and a smile, to everyone in work place area when I arrive at work (I get along with everyone).


Simple. Common sense. But, being a human being, I need to be reminded to stay on course (religious leaders - past and present - understand the power of reinforcement and reminders)
