By law under ADA (The Americans with Disabilities Act for any non-U.S brahs) we can LEGALLY only ask two questions:

1)Is this a required service animal because of a disability?
2)What function is the dog able to perform?

That's it. We can't ask you to prove that the animal can perform that function, and we CAN'T ask you for papers.

People go online and for like $30 you get a bullchit "registration" for your dog and a service vest. If you've ever seen an actual service dog, you know how well behaved and "on task" they are - we legally can't do anything but it's REAAAAL obvious when people are full of chit.

Sometimes man, yeah. Again, I happen to work at a high end spot, so it's not like a spring-break hookup vibe or anything like that. People tend to be pretty discreet.

But when I managed in the restaurant I would tend to hang out at the end of our bar toward the end of the night (since that was where the last few guests typically were). I had a few instances of people asking me to deliver their spare key discreetly to somebody else in the bar etc.

They paid for all of it. In a situation like that they get a letter sent to them and our attorneys advising of the extra charges, detailed bill (from the carpet installer etc), and formal notification that they are not welcome back.

Our attorney charged them for the lost revenue from being unable to sell the room those nights too, because he keeps his pimp hand strong.

why is it that when i'm booking rooms, say, 2 months ahead and request 2 rooms next to each other, the hotel can't guarantee that chit?

They should be able to give you rooms next to each other. A lot of times they'll hit you with the "we can note the request, but we can't guarantee it" line. The more stuff about a room the hotel promises you, the more they tie there hands as a business.

Let's say some guy is staying for a week, then there's nobody in that room for the next two days, then somebody else checks in for a week. Those two long stays are hard to move around, so they want to find somebody to slot into that 2 night opening. If that's you, but they already promised you some other room, they can't use your res to fill that hole. The front desk software has a booking screen that shows all the rooms with all their stays, and if you're thinking of it like a game of Tetris you're not far off.

This is also why hotels will basically NEVER tell you the number of the room you're staying in before checkin.

It's tough to tell who's a rich guy with a 20-something girlfriend, and a rich guy with a 20-something "girlfriend", but pretty frequent. Being able to whisk a girl off to Florida for the week is pretty attractive I'd wager, but some of these dudes are clearly paying for it.

I have experience in the service industry and thought about combining that experience with my degree in business to work my way up to the top of a hotel chain.

One of my issues with this is I'm worried that, unless you manage multiple hotels, you probably will only make 40-80K.

Is this true? Who is the big bread winner at hotels?

6 figures is definitely possible at a property level, our corporate owners are probably BANKING.

I interviewed for a GM spot at a LaQuinta, and it sounded like it was going to be $65k? I make more than that currently, not 6 figures but I have a relatively chill and low stress job, as my post count proves heheh

It depends really. I work for a hotel management company that manages high end hotels and low end hotels. Our GM's that work at like Comfort Suites in North Dakota dont make near as much as the GM's in bigger cities or the ones at resorts. Also, the ones at the smaller hotels are sometimes the GM and Sales Manager which makes things tougher.

Other than the dude that chucked the suitcase of the 12th floor, what is the biggest craziest knockout drag out fight you have ever seen in your career? Used to work for a PD up north and we would have some fights that would require the whole shift to show up plus mutual aid like every other month (we had like 10 hotels in the city)

Weddings, seriously. When you have ones where one part of one family doesn't like the other family I've seen it devolve into drunken screechfests between members of the bridal party, and more than few times it has gotten physical.

You know how they used to ask if you were a friend of the bride or the groom and seat you on the left or right side of the aisle? We had one wedding that had a sign at the top of the aisle that read "Today our families become one. Choose a seat, don't choose a side." lmaooo
