She responded to the call due to other motorist reporting Crutcher saying the car was going to explode.
On September 16, 2016, Crutcher's SUV was found stalled in the middle of the street. A witness called 911 and said a man was running away from the vehicle, warning that it was going to blow up.
Guy did not comply with police instructions
As she turned back to her patrol car, she saw Crutcher walking toward her, she testified. He alternated between putting his hands in his pockets and putting them in the air, Shelby said. Crutcher did not comply with her commands to "show me your hands," she testified.

Crutcher ignored orders from Shelby and another officer on the scene, Tyler Turnbough, according to Shelby's testimony. She testified that Crutcher put his hands on the SUV and moved to reach into the vehicle.
Guy was high on PCP
Shelby's lawyers cited an autopsy that found PCP in his system at the time of his shooting,
There was nothing trigger happy about this situation. The guy was given every chance to just comply with police instructions. The fact that this moron was on PCP and out driving where he could have killed someone combined with his previous arrests make every ounce of the officers story very believable.

Bro it is not as clean and cut dried as that,

If every step you took on your job might cost you your life but more importantly than that it might mean your son or your doughter might wake up the next day without a mother or without a father then you would not feel this way

thier job is to protect you but they also deal with the scum OF THE EARTH each and every day. give them some credit for having the guts and the fortitude to walk out their door each morning with the uniform on.

its not for the money cause the money wont take you to Europe if you retire. bit if you save you [pennies you might be able to send your kids to college. A small price to pay yeah? for what is risked each day?

IF you dont agree then dont call 911 next time you need help

So I've read all 5 pages and what I'm going to say will not change the minds of the folks that hate the police but there are some things not being mentioned.

First the guy that was shot had a past. He wasn't the nice innocent guy you all hope he was. The cop didn't know that as she rolled up on the scene. What she did know was the day before there was a complaint of a guy matching his description and vehicle reportedly pointing a gun and shoot randomly. The call this time was a man parked in the middle of the road yelling his vehicle was going to blow up. The officer was trained to notice or see when some one was under the influence of drugs. She called in for back up and stated he smelled of PCP and she suspected he might be under the influence of drugs. During the trial a training video was shown of this exact thing and the guy did reach into his vehicle and pull out a gun and shot the trainee before he could react so she was following her training. Something else was reported in the beginning of this case that the other officer deployed his taser the exact same time she pulled her trigger. What ever he did made them both react at the same time.

So with all that being said, its not like she just rolled up and shot a guy with his hands up as he was following her instructions.

Being a Cop is totally ALPHA! In every way.

You strap on a gun. you pray and hope you never have to use it and you walk out the door not wanting to put people in jail just cause you can but wanting to put bad people in jail so that it protects the good people like YOU?

GET IT!

Half the time the cops are still stupid.

Most people can't shoot for chit. You have a vest. No offensive action has happened but instead of getting cover and trying to deescalate cops just stand in the open and blast away.

So youd let him get back into a vehicle that he could,

A, have a weapon
B, use as a weapon or
C, get an explosive device and use that since that was the nature of the call.

Good police work, bro i,cant believe you are not a chief somewhere

You should deescalate situations first and foremost.

But most cops escalate encounters from the beginning.

Cops think they are above the law and that they can do whatever they want 24/7

SRS here, because I respect you as a poster... explain how you would have handled that situation as the cop.

Keep in mind, the only information you know is the information Officer Shelby knew when arriving on scene.

Doesnt change the fact that the windows were up, he didnt reach for the door to open it, he was unarmed, and there was no weapon in the car.

First I never made an exact comment ITT about what I thought of this shooting. Just cop actions in general and one cop's statement OBEY ORDERS!

Secondly I haven't looked at the video in a long time but again distance is your friend. Numbers are your friend. So maintain distance and wait for help when possible if you're going into a call scared.

Is this the absolute worst cop killing in a while no but it also isn't a great shooting either.

Much worse cases of cops killing people for sure.

Why was he shot? He didnt go in car, didnt reach, didnt have reason too, no issues. Anyways he wasnt a suspect of anything, and he was unarmed so afterwards that proves a lot, just a dude with broke down car. Thats a problem.

I would understand maybe little more if he was on the run and chit but he wasnt, even then shooting would be a bad shoot too cuz no immediate justification

I swear mate this is how most american cops are

His window was open and she believed he was reaching in, she also could not see thru metal to know there was no weapon. Know 100% how,he would not have been shot, had he obeyed the cops orders. Shocker i know

What if he was grabbing id/paper?!

Anyway this case is old. Let me ask you your opinion on the thing that happened yesterday.

Did you see the video of a bunch of "bodyguards" from turkey attacking americans. They where kicking downed women, strangling people, beating americans up.some of the turks clearly had sidearms. Cops where baton striking the turks telling them to get the fuack away and stop.

My question is how come the cops didnt shoot the turks? If someone is attacking an american and has a firearm that makes it a major crime. With such trigger happy cops usually shooting unarmed people...how come they didnt shoot those guys?

Did you see the video of a bunch of "bodyguards" from turkey attacking americans. They where kicking downed women, strangling people, beating americans up.some of the turks clearly had sidearms. Cops where baton striking the turks telling them to get the fuack away and stop.

My question is how come the cops didnt shoot the turks? If someone is attacking an american and has a firearm that makes it a major crime. With such trigger happy cops usually shooting unarmed people...how come they didnt shoot those guys?
Was he asked to grab ID from his vehicle? No he wasnt, he was told to get on the ground. FYI normal people dont disobey cops orders when they have guns pointed at them.

Wtf does that have to do with anything?

Why was guns pointed at him? What did he do that made guns pointed?

Also answer about the turkey situation. Its weird cops have hair triggers on questionable shoots, but when they see foreign guys with firearms attacking americans they dont do anything?
