We only know about this incident because Cecil was being tracked, imagine all the other instances. That's why I find it to believe this exotic hunting industry is as benevolent as you make it sound. You'll never get anyone to believe the myth that trophy hunters are there first and foremost to "help" they're there to bring an exotic animals head home, that's all they really care about
And the biggest threat to African wildlife wasn't the starving people, it's the rampant poaching

Because they're poachers. Do you think rich fat white guys are typically the ones poaching? LOL.

I just don't understand why you said many places are corrupt (hide the money) then many places aren't corrupt. That's contradictory (means some for the first part?), but this article talking about what you're talking up cleared some thoughts:http://www.conservationmagazine.org/...rica/#comments
It's from Conservation Mag, among all sites.
The negative comments are from the idea of trophy hunting, which many disagree with, no matter the benefits derived from it. Even some airlines banned shipping animal carcusses shipped from Africa. That's why it gets people riled up, on whatever site it may be.
And people seem to react like this to that idea (hopefully gif works):

Africa is corrupt. Game reserves are often corrupt. Regardless of corruption, the money to pay the scouts comes from somewhere. Where does it come from? Magical fairy trees? No, it comes from donations and hunting. The people who go there and drop big bucks are the reason that these places even exist and they pay the scouts to stop the poaching so there's something to hunt.
I saw this first hand.
First hand.
Not in a book, not on television, first hand.

The people doing the big game hunts generally just want their trophy.
What's SUPPOSED to happen after:
-Scouts alongside the hunter carve the meat up
-Meat gets distributed
-Money goes towards reservation/conservancy, to the director, to the government (African government always requires bribes), towards the local council (same as above but smaller scale) and then the scouts
This happens all the time. If it's not organized, it's poaching and that's illegal.

So maybe elephant populations are meant to be high. Pity our casualities in the oil wars aren't as high.

Yes, it's Africa and yes it's corrupt. I would have no doubt that many places hide the money somewhere when someone comes in and trophy hunts. That's not the case with a lot of places and the money is used to pay game scouts. All reserves have game scouts, it's the only way to stop poaching. Without game scouts, there is no trophy hunting because the poachers would kill everything. So, that money comes from somewhere. When some rich white guy comes in and drops 100k for some hunting expedition, the game scouts get their bonus for going along with him as well as their monthly stipend as long as the hunting continues. They don't get paid much at all (it's Africa after all) but they are the only thing stopping the poachers and they are funded by donations and hunters.
If you don't know what you're talking about, just don't post. It's pretty simple.

Big game hunters say they help support local communities and conservation efforts by paying for big game hunts. However, while hunters pay roughly $200 million each year for big game hunts in Africa, only around 3 percent of those funds go to local communities, and the amount dedicated to conservation efforts is nearly negligible. The overwhelming majority of hunting fees ends up lining the pockets of middlemen, large companies and local governments.

No one is talking about the local communities. I'm talking about scout efforts to stop poaching. THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES ARE OFTEN THE ONES POACHING THE ANIMALS. Why? Because bush mean is expensive and these people are poor. So no, the money doesn't go to the local community. It goes to the tribal leader as a bribe (to allow the hunting permit) and then to pay the director, professional hunter, safari guides, etc. It also goes towards the scouts.
The scouts are the ones who stop the poaching.

Where does the money come from to pay for the scouts if it's not from the hunting? You won't answer this question because you know you're full of ****.

It's crazy how retarded people get about crap they don't understand. I put my ass on the line (FOR FREE) to stop the poaching in the area I was in. I almost died about 5-6 times, one of which was so close that I thought it was 100% that I wasn't going to make it out. And then when I post about some of the details of how poaching/counter-poaching works, I get told I'm coping or get people threatening to kill me. Lmao. Misc gonna misc.
