First, it does appear difficult for some people to understand. Second, the categories of work are flawed...as they are too overarching. an equipment operator differs from a crane operator, correct? Their title will vary. Their pay will vary. They are exclusive and aren't lumped together. furthermore, their pay won't vary by that much - save those specialists. which again, drive the average up anyways.

i agree that it's broad, but the average crane operator is not making twice the salary of the average equipment operator, based on those numbers.

you know what too much specificity gets you? anecdotal evidence.

Tradie here. Made 180k at my employment income. Used my tradie skills to build and sell a house and made another 200k on top of that. Rental properties increased my networth another 300k

That feel when youre a 26 year old tradie making more then most CEO's srs

No its not. Look at the actual union statistics. Machine operators are at 42-50+ HVAC is at 43 iron workers are at 46 carpenters are at 46.50. Electricians are at 47

I did payroll for a union plumbing and HVAC contractor and I can 100% confirm that guys make 120k at 25 years old.

guess it all depends... all of my tradie friends make now here near that and can barely afford to live lol... But I don't doubt your information, im sure it differs down here.

Yuge difference between union, and non union tradesmen. Union tradies are top tier in their field...they go through 5 years of apprenticeship before making it to JW. The quality of work usually speaks for itself.

The problem is that many tradies don't have financial sense. They spend money on monster trucks, rzrs, campers, etc and don't save anything. Many of them make way more than cubical slaves, but lack the proper discipline to invest and save.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on union vs non union. But when you have a union company working for you, it is comforting to know if they need to man up the job they can simply call the hall and get it done.
