Our region is doing a combined prayer this year with all the local mosques congregating together at a large sports arena/complex. It's going to be pretty awesome. They're going to do Eid prayer in the morning, have halal food trucks, jump houses, face painting, vendor stalls etc. afterwards for people to hang out. Then they'll pray Jummah and then break.
I'll be dishing out close to 400 large in Eidi to my nieces and nephews.
Still haven't figured out what I want to get my husband for Eid. He's got too many colognes and I got him a watch on Valentine's day. Any ideas?

On another note, congratulations to all people who fasted this Ramadan, I'm not Muslim but have taken part in Ramadan a few years ago, thinking about trying it next year again......
Would it help improve my already good discipline?

Thanks guys, some of you are late to the party because...

EID MUBARAK BRUVS!!!
I'm sooo excited. I've got my house decorated in lights, flowers, signs and balloons. I'm in the process of making my sweets (milk chocolate pistachio tart and peach cinnamon upside down cupcakes), got mine and my husband's Eid clothes pressed an ready to go for tomorrow, going to apply henna tomorrow. AHHH!! Can't wait!
What is your Eid traditions?
We typically go to the mosque for the 10 am prayer, then go out for brunch, then it's doing the rounds to all our family's homes - and they come over to your house - for the rest of the day. This year - we're going to a community park that is going to be an open potluck invite. It's going to be amazing.
Oh and I made little goodie bags for the kids that include some chocolates and their Eid money $$$$$. I bought diamond rings for my 3 sisters since they're all older than me and I can't given them money. lol.

Can white people be muslims too if they exercise the disciple to keep the Ramadan? Or is it a predominantly darker skinned religion?
not that this is an Ask Me Anything thread but I don't know.

Ramadan is just one of the 5 pillars of being Muslim. You can observe Ramadan just for fun if you'd like. We have some friends who gave it a try this Ramadan.

I don't even think I ate REAL food that day until later on when my husband mentioned that we had been surviving on chocolate tart and mini cakes all day.So how was everyone's Eid? Mine was great, but I ate too much, lol.
So we wanted halal food, but everything was closed for Eid. He finally found a cheesesteak place that was open and ordered a couple sandwiches and fries. They were not up to my standards, but I was starving.
Next day my niece had her graduation so I had to get up early. Then we went to a concert where there was some popular hip hop group that raps Islamic style hip hop. It was pretty cool, they had everyone up on their feet in now time.
I'm fasting again today - 6 days to finish out the month of Shawaal. =)
