EID MUBARAK BRUVS!!!

I'm sooo excited. I've got my house decorated in lights, flowers, signs and balloons. I'm in the process of making my sweets (milk chocolate pistachio tart and peach cinnamon upside down cupcakes), got mine and my husband's Eid clothes pressed an ready to go for tomorrow, going to apply henna tomorrow. AHHH!! Can't wait!

What is your Eid traditions?

We typically go to the mosque for the 10 am prayer, then go out for brunch, then it's doing the rounds to all our family's homes - and they come over to your house - for the rest of the day. This year - we're going to a community park that is going to be an open potluck invite. It's going to be amazing.

Oh and I made little goodie bags for the kids that include some chocolates and their Eid money $$$$$. I bought diamond rings for my 3 sisters since they're all older than me and I can't given them money. lol.

Lol! We have plenty of "light-skinned" Muslims. Islam is worldwide. First time I met Russian Muslims - I was like O_o.

Ramadan is just one of the 5 pillars of being Muslim. You can observe Ramadan just for fun if you'd like. We have some friends who gave it a try this Ramadan.

Eid mubarak! I lost 10 lbs like I said I would 188 to 177 lbs =).Ramadan went by so quick felt like it was only two weeks. Hope everyone has a nice Eid and hopefully you guys don't pig out too much now that Ramadan is over lol

I am white. Born and raised in Texas. Most muslims are squinty eyed Asians so really it's more of a yellow skinned religion.

Alhumdullilah! It was pretty awesome. Surprisingly, I could actually hear the imam this Eid. The women were better behaved and I think most of the little screaming kids stayed outside. Lots of people came over after Eid and we ate sweets and had tea. I don't even think I ate REAL food that day until later on when my husband mentioned that we had been surviving on chocolate tart and mini cakes all day.

So we wanted halal food, but everything was closed for Eid. He finally found a cheesesteak place that was open and ordered a couple sandwiches and fries. They were not up to my standards, but I was starving.

Next day my niece had her graduation so I had to get up early. Then we went to a concert where there was some popular hip hop group that raps Islamic style hip hop. It was pretty cool, they had everyone up on their feet in now time.

I'm fasting again today - 6 days to finish out the month of Shawaal. =)
