*~ Official Ramadan 2018 (1439) Thread ~*

Muzzie has decided to break the cardinal rule of never making a thread for this important occasion (and because Hamzaa is lagging in his job duties).

Ramadan Kareem to all those who are observing!!! May Allah (swt) accept our fasting and prayers. May he strengthen our nafs and lead us onto the right path of patience, supplication and kindness. Insha'Allah and Ameen. Thanks to all who support and/or are sensitive towards Muslims who are observing around them.

Let's use this thread to educate on why we fast, what's on the daily Iftar feast menu (pics or it didn't happen), how your lifting routine will change and what your spiritual goals are this month.

.....

Mods, your help is appreciated in keeping the negativity out of this thread. Gracias.

I don't browse the misc anymore outside of MFC thread, but it occurred to me earlier that there was an annual Ramadan thread..

Clicked out of misc MFC thread into misc and found this thread.

Good to know it's going to be around again. I have to work a job that requires a lot of physical work this Ramadan, some days will be lighter than others, but the downfall is less physical work means less money but an easier Ramadan, if that makes sense.

Good luck everyone! Ramadan Mubarak

Edit: I started fasting today. Some follow Saudi, I follow whatever the land I live in says, which is how it's supposed to be. I don't wake up for suhoor and wake up fairly early. Fajr is at 3:58 and Maghrib is at 8:06 today.

Yea, that's we decided to do as well. The mosque that my husband prays Jummah at started today, so we decided to go with that.

However, the rest of my family go to another mosque - the one I grew up going to - but they're starting tomorrow.

Yes, I miss the annual Ramadan threads, searched for one, didn't come up - so I created one.

Lawl ... he's nexting Ramadan! I know a few people who do this too.

The objective is NOT to do that though. You're supposed to go about your business (in terms of house chores, work, business etc.) as normal.

Was in ***** once on vacation and almost got arrested because I was having a smoke outside the hotel during Ramadan. Also went to bars that didn’t play music or allow dancing, but everyone was getting hammered. Interesting.

Depends. Some people have massive feasts. Again, that's not the objective of the month.

I typically have a date and some water - maybe some almonds. Then I pray and have my meal. Usually a stir fry or massive chicken salad.

I'll be making some fried foods for the husband some some carb-laden foods. His job is more physical than mine. Will snap some pics for you later.

Those of us who practice are obligated to start doing this around 12 years of age. So it's sort of routine.

Lol, you're making an assumption that fasting causes performance issues. There are plenty of professional athletes that perform just fine during Ramadan.

I've PR'd my lifts during Ramadan before.

Happens a lot in ***** as they don't give anyone a heads up. I avoid traveling through during Ramadan as it's awkward eating during the day while locals are not and just starring at you. ***** is fun as hell though, what's your favorite hotel?

You can go to the website of your local mosque and pull down a Ramadan calendar. It will tell you the fast begin time and the end time along with the prayer times.

It's very similar to intermittent fasting which many athletes do. However, it's not only about not eating or drinking from sun up until sun down. It's so much more than that.

You're supposed to refrain from any sexual physical stuff, you can't smoke or put anything into your body. Giving to charity and devoting your time to the worship of God is key. That's the true intention of this month.

What questions do you have?

Myself or one of the practicing Muslims ITT will answer if it's not a baiting/disrespectful question.
