JJA isn't capable of undoing the damage done. He's capable of making decent 7/10 forgettable movies, ones that if he'd had full reign with the main movies would have made big Marvel $$$, but it would take someone more talented than him to not only make a great movie but to do so from the hole that TLJ put the franchise in.
Right now, even if he makes his standard better than okay 7/10 forgettable popcorn fair, I don't think it will work. Too much bad blood from the rape which was TLJ. You'd have to knock it out of the park to get people to forget about it and move on.
He might be able to do it, but it's going to take several movies to wash the bad taste out of people's mouths and I think there will be a Solo-effect, where you have movies which aren't that bad (such as Solo) doing worse than they would have otherwise, simply because of the bad will from TLJ and LucasFilm's assault on the fanbase.

One thing that bothered me about TLJ was the scope of it. You telling me galaxy filled with trillions of beings and the resistance is a handful of feminists on 1 ship?
Next they need to undo all this girl power bull plop. Rey sucks as a character. Making her super strong for no reasons other then muh feminism is stupid. Make her the reincarnation of Anakin and the story becomes far more interesting.
And finally stop Marvel-izing th franchise. The franchise was set up with a serious undertone. Let Marvel do its thing because that’s the way that franchise was set up. Go back to the original series for tone.

The icing on the cake of all of this is we have a large thread full kf valid reasons as to why the new trilogy (especially TLJ) suck that don't even touch on SJW issues, yet all of us will be tagged as racists/homophones/sexists/etc and what we say will ultimately be ignored.

As bad as The Last Jedi was, I still have hope for Star Wars. I've heard that the Game of Thrones producers will get their own trilogy made before Rian Johnson. If they decide to base their trilogy on the Old Republic that could a huge hit.

3. Phasma survives.
4. Rose is written out.
5. Reys parents aren't just nobodies that sold her for money She's related to "insert XYZ character" that explans her innate ability to be a Mary-Sue.
and so on and so forth.

Personally think they'll keep cash whoring but don't know if it will ever be halfway decent again. Id love to see them go dark with some of these other storylines, but I personally don't see Disney doing that. From what I've seen, Disney wants the biggest audience and the most money and they seem like they want to appeal to everyone.
