stopped reading when you said" they dont even make profit"
srsly u delusional ***s dont even know whats goin on, why they do it? to pay less tax? Well hello. ****gy companies that dont invest elsewhere (furiously to beat competion) wont become top. Look at Amazon vs Walmart, Apple etc those are cuttin their taxes to the max, sometimes even illegally but they are beast at court

There are some fair points but its short sighted to dismiss electric vehicles or Tesla. They started a push. More traditional big car brands are coming out with electric vehicles in the near future. As electric vehicles become more common, the infrastructure will have to adapt. You will continue to see an increase in charging stations. Cities will definitely prefer it over gas vehicles. Companies jumping in now will profit when it hits the tipping point. And one day the fossil fuel supply will start to dwindle so might as well have alternatives. And those who say its beta have never felt the acceleration on these cars when they jam you back into your seat. These arent the weak hybrids. Its all still just in the growing phase.
Hydrogen would have been another alternative but at this moment too costly and requires a different infrastructure. At least with EV's you work with some of what we have.

A 100 acre solar field is about 100 MWs of power. That is with an optimal exposure. That is about 1/6 of a larger power plant, 1/12th of a decent nuke plant and 1/10,000 of typical load The mid-eastern coast of the us sees in the summer.
Also if you have abundance of solar and a few clouds go by you will see a very sharp decline in power gen and frequency will drop. Batteries could alleviate this but I cant imagine batteries will have the capacity to do this and provide power at night. Some parts of the us blow up mountains and have these huge upper/lower reservoirs. They pump up water at night (when power is cheaper) and run/provide reserves during the peak when power is expensive. Its an ingenius and old school battery idea but there is no way a greeny would let you blow up a mountain to do that nowadays.
Solar is a decent idea when combines with natura gas units, nukes, offshore wind, hydro and pump storage. Solar/wind alone is very unrealistic.

GE came out with some storage tech to work with renewable farms not sure how good they are though.

This thread aged well. Stock almost at $600/share. Market cap now exceeds $100billion- more than Ford and GM combined and more than VW.
