Fringe theory exists for everything. The problem with Bible scholarship in particular is there are obviously going to be biased (religious) scholars pushing certain points. The supposed Pharaoh for the Exodus has variously been argued to be a long list of different Pharaohs, none of this changes the majority consensus position of historians and scholars in the field of Egyptology (mentioned above)

The reason I asked was I remember reading somewhere that it has to do with an earlier period in the bronze age, more ancient than pharaoh Ramses.

The idea being that the facts in the bible occurred earlier, and supposedly several evidences align once they looked into an earlier period.
The problem is that for that, the Egyptian chronology had to be readjusted as well. And people take the current Egyptian chronology as a fact.

No when I wrote that, I was actually thinking about the story of Noah. That story has its roots in Mesopotamian religion and literature. Look no further than the Epic of Gilgamesh for an example of a stunningly similar flood story told by the god Utnapishtim. God created man in His own image after all so in Biblical times, men were more closer to God's likeness right after creation and even when sin came into this world hence I believe people lived longer. But after sin came into the world we just started declining as a whole.

It's like if you were the son of Einstein you are more likely to have most of his traits as opposed to if you were his great, great grandson. So after hundreds, if not thousands of generations, we are blessed to even see 100 years. When people say we're living longer now, just point them to the Bible.

i think lord of the rings is a more accurate representation of history before the bible then obviously harry potter after LOTR , if you want to learn about history, look at those for history lessons.
