Like what??? I hate when people say this, i literally can't think of any kind of job i would enjoy doing. Basically anything remotely enjoyable either pays minimum wage or is a volunteer position, just lol

I've been struggling lately as a cubecel. Words can't describe the mental pain i endure especially on cuts when i'm at work. Just nothing good comes out of the corporate world. Stay safe officecels.

9am-8pm rotter checking in : I'm feeling very depressed right now. I have no energy or further motivation to go sit at my desk surrounded by incompetent people that drain all of my energy.

It's has only been 3 years and I'm on the verge of a burn-out...

It's not as if I had any girl besides me to help me cope with this life, no I just go home after I hit the gym in the same empty and cold appartment...

Same i walk around work like a limp noodle most days because i just don't have anything left in me. There's no real purpose at the office. Nothing really engaging going on. Just a few walls in between me and the other 5 people i work with all day. I used to gain my energy back fairly quickly after getting off and going outside but i don't even get that anymore. Worst part is i can't get into office politics and the way they do things. I just go in and do my work and work alone until i have nothing to do. I'm not the type to bicker or talk about others or talk for an hour about how to do a simple task.

The office has literally sucked my soul dry there's no other way to describe it. Not even being a Mcdonald's employee could do this to somebody.

This thread is really not supposed to be about how 9-5ers are ungrateful and lazy. More that people really aren't truly sure what they want until they try it. I was homeless/couch surfing working 70+ hours a week for years and I thought that an office white collar job would mean I finally made it. Worked my butt off to get to where I'm at..... Only to find out it's not exactly what I expected/want for my life.

Good to see positivity ITT but at the same time there's nothing wrong with complaining and being real about how you feel.

The reason I get heated about this is because I know the mentality! You guys are being lazy and then whining about doing stupid unimportant work at an unimportant company while not being CEO10k/day....but you just can't understand why.

YOU CAN DO BETTER AND ARE CAPABLE OF MORE! STOP BEING LAZY AND COMFORTABLE - GET UNCOMFORTABLE! NO GAINZ BEING COMFORTABLE
Who is the real loser? the person who works 80 hour weeks to get a 10% payrise, a better title and a business card, or someone who is comfortable with their salary and looks to spend more time with the friends/family and spending more time on what they enjoy?

Am I lazy and comfortable for ejecting from 9-5 and starting my own thing? thats about as uncomfortable as it gets, I would gather you have no idea just uncomfortable that actually feels.

If you hate your job then work on MASTERY of your job

With mastery comes passion

This is actually the most legitimate life hack I've ever seen. After the initial honeymoon phase starting my career I was questioning if I made the right choice, wondering if economics was actually my passion. I found an article online talking about mastery as a prerequisite to passion. Dove into a whole new school of economic thought (going from a neo-keynesian formal education into the misesian/mengerian school of thought was mind blowing). Started to work on mastery, and slowly but surely I began to have that honeymoon phase, but at a sustainable level.

The secret is MASTERY, even just the process of attaining mastery brings passion - you feel like you're making gains in terms of skill the reward motivates you

I could never go back to 9-5, it steals your time, your freedom. Have to answer to other people, do as your told, be at certain places and certain times even when you have other stuff going on. And for the most part no matter how hard you work you will be paid about the same rate. And you're depending on a single source of income...get injured, sick, fired, ect you're fuked.

Started a business 3 years ago online and never looked back. Make about 7k a month now from multiple sources of income. My main online business, the first one I started makes about 4.5k profit every month, my other online business makes about 1k a month. Then have multiple side hustles that are not online making me about 2k a month. All of this total I put maybe 20 hours a week towards tops. And can work from anywhere I want just need my laptop.

Theres so many ways out of a 9-5, its never been easier IMO. Some ideas...

Online...
1. ecommerce, FBA, drop shipping, shopify, etsy, ebay
2. affiliate marketing
3. social media, vlogs, blogs
4. sell digital courses or products
5. make a website, source traffic, and collect ad revenue.

Offline
1. Buy a truck and mower, start a mowing business
2. Buy a pressure washer, put ads up online and at local businesses to wash buildings and sidewalks
3. Get a truck and a trailer, offer to move things and haul away junk, $75 a load. resell what's salvageable and take any metal to scrap yard for extra $
4. Retail arbitrage. Buy liquidation pallets, storage locker auctions, online auctions, store discounts, flee markets, garage sales, ect and resale on craigslist, fb market, ect.
5. Build a home gym or get a deal with a local gym to bring clients there, and put ads online and around town for personal training sessions. Research the competition in your area and undercut their prices until you build up some clients.

These are just off the top of my head extremely low barrier to entry with very high demand. There's wealth everywhere out there. Go out there and get your money, be your own boss, make your own hours, create value.

Once you start making even as low as 3k a month online, you can pick where you live. So you can move to an area with cheap AF cost of living, and extremely low taxes (Americans living outside of the country won't pay tax on their first 104k earned). Stay out of the liberal decaying western cities like London, LA, Toronto, ect with high cost of living and feminist women; instead you will have the option to go with SE Asia, Eastern Europe with traditional values and cheap cost of living and live like a King. Thats what entrepreneurship does is give you options and freedom in life.

Lol, right in the feelz...

If you have minimal friends, no girl, and no family (in close proximity), then what the fuk is it all for?

Sometimes the absurdity of my life hits me like a train - I spend so many hours of my life in the company of people I wouldn't choose and in an environment I don't enjoy... how fuked up is that?

again..not sure what some people wanted out of life OR what they THINK they were "made for"??..Im sure people that built this country living off dirt, killing their own food, washing in rivers, living in huts would have loved to have it so easy as people have the last 100+ years..Im sure they would have loved your horrible 9-5 "im not important enough" jobs/lifestyles..We all at some point think we are better OR meant for something "more"..but in reality, we arent all "special"..We dont have that "thing" it takes to be that person..so we 9-5 it...

Figured out what I wanted to do in life too late crew. Way too comfortable and invested in my current 9-5 position to throw it all away and chase a dream for a few years.

When you're in your teens and early twenties everyone tells you "you have plenty of time, there's no rush to figure everything out".

They're fuking wrong. Windows are closing all the time on certain paths and options. Get fuking moving and always be doing sht to figure it out.

9-5 ain't that bad by the way, I've worked far far worse and look with contempt at my colleagues who btch and moan about it.

They talk about the process of went from jobs that only served to pay the bills (Joe with Fear Factor, Dan with small radio shows), to trying a bunch of their own projects until one finally took off enough, and was fulfilling enough, that they could do it full-time and enjoy it.

Would recommend to anyone who's working on their own side gig and is generally self-motivated. It'll give you a nice kick of extra inspiration if you already have that spark. But if you're a cubecel with a defeatist attitude and no drive, don't bother.
Stability (a steady predictable paycheck) is a really comfortable feeling regardless of how chitty the job is. Most people don't have the courage to go out and do anything on their own because they're afraid of failure, and the ones that WANT to still can't because they have debt and cannot afford to fail at a business venture. Its one thing to be single, but if you have kids AND debt, the idea of going off on your own with no guarantee of a paycheck is even more terrifying.
