... you measure your waist at YOUR WAIST. Bellybutton. I fuking listed how to do it last week, man. Don't breath out or in, relax and measure evenly around your fuking belly.

Dude, you need to take drastic steps. Good luck but I feel like this is more of a goodbye.

This. I drank pretty often and heavy years ago, beer mostly, and it makes a huge difference in your physique. I lifted the whole time as well but always had a softer look. Once i dramatically cut down on the drinking the difference was very noticeable. I had abs for the first time in my upper 30's.

Now whenever i drink beer Im like a blowfish.

Good luck OP, stick to it and the change should be significant.
October 1 - 179lbs

[img]https://i.imgur.com/LWIjvGk.jpg[/mg]

November 1 - 171.5lbs

[img]https://i.imgur.com/RX1AzgN.jpg[img]

Waist has decreased by 1.5 inches

The difference is...not as much as I was wanting for that much weight. I dismissed the people saying I'd need to lose 25-30 but that's looking like a legit prediction. Gonna be increasing activity like an after school special about anorexia. Inb4 I'm losing zero fat and all muscle lol
Location: Portland, Oregon, United States

last week was 3 weeks into how i've already been measuring it though. i lost 1.5" from where i measured it. precision seems more important than accuracy. all the fat on my body has decreased noticeably. i'm going to hold gut fat until the last gram. gonna look like a snake who swallowed an egg at the very end. don't worry, my man, i'm going to make it no matter what.

Your maths is fine. Your diet is fine too. You just made the cardinal sin of dieting. You're fatter than you think you are and its going to take you longer than you think it will

Keep doing what you're doing and take the progress as it comes.

If I'm being honest, I doubt you'll ever see abs at your level of muscle mass unless you go full anorexia

People look at visible fat, might make a decent estimate there, totally ignore the "hidden" fat that in their muscles, making their arms and chest and everything look less cut, etc... so they figure they got 10 or so extra pounds in their belly and incorrectly assume that's what they need to lose (only) or that weight/fat loss is linear, that it remains as quick at 20% bodyfat as it does at 15% or 12% as they lean down.

It only gets harder and slower-going.

OP?

He needs to lose 20lbs, just of fat. At least. Probably 20-25. He'll probably lose 5-10lbs LBM along the way, if he does things well. Speaking of doing things well: his measuring his waist at his ribs concerns me. Measuring your waist is simple. Couldn't be easier. Dieting right, training right, factoring in adequate rest and whatnot - that can get complicated. If he's struggling with step A, how's he going to perform the harder steps?

one funny aside that I think i mentioned earlier in the thread is that my buddy and I have a bet to see who has the lowest BF% by january 1 as well. he's been traveling europe and drinking like a fish this whole time so i figured i would stomp him. he called me a couple days ago to tell me that he's going to thailand next week to basically live at a muay thai dojo or whatever the fukk you call it until new years. said he's gonna be training like 5 hours a day. fukkkk. if i fail, i'm gonna be banned and out 600 bucks lol. i love the pressure though. no matter what happens, i'm obviously gonna clean bulk after i finish this.

i mean, it seemed logical to me that you don't measure on your rib cage or on your pelvis, so i measured in between them. there's only like an inch between...

I basically told op this a few weeks ago on page 3, he'd cut down and look skinny but would not end up having a six pack because lack of actual muscle, and 3 weeks later I can say that I'm 100% sure I was right about it. Op it's gonna take at least one or two years of lifting with a solid diet before you end up with a defined six pack

Waist measurement has me fukked up:

i've been measuring at the red line

if i go above it, i'm measuring my rib cage. if i go below it, i'm measuring my pelvis. both of which seem like useless measurements.

i've lost 1.5 inches at the red line

You would have to fast for the remaining 2 months to have a chance at this. You can always eat the last week or two if you actually make your goal by then.

was hinted at earlier but if you have been lifting with any intensity whatsoever for more than 6 months and with the way you are holding fat it's time to go get blood work done dead srs

you think i'm on that LTC time? i just genetically hold fat there but i think i'm a complete non-responder as far as lifting goes for my whole life. i still wake up every morning with a diamond cutter and i can smash multiple times a day (even if it's the same gal hehe) so i don't think i'm low test. tbh, even if i were, i would never in a million years treat it.

it's just hard for me to bee leaf anyone with healthy levels could store fat like that (don't take that personally)

I didnt see your training details. I'm guessing you're doing less volume but are you keeping intensity up?

I feel that's the best way to train while cutting, based off what I've read and experienced. Don't do strictly high rep training while cutting if you want to preserve muscle mass.
