When is 'writing down everything you eat and the calories, and seeing if you're under your maintenance'

going to be the next fad?

Too logical for the general public (srs). Being responsible for your caloric intake everyday and making better food selections for the benefit of your health/recovery isn't exciting enough for common folk. People aren't actually looking to be responsible, they want a dietary scapegoat and something to talk about at lunch time.

They need a diet with a sexy name and a phrase or two they can memorize to make them sound educated and scientific. Plus, it gives them a nice little excuse to blame for why they were overweight to begin with. It was the "carbs' " fault. It was the "gluten's" fault. It was the "processed foods' " fault. It wasn't their lack of calorie control or lack of exercise. Couldn't be.

Living in the wild is extremely hard on newborns and infants, the data suggests that those who survived past ~5-6 years old very often lived to old age, assuming that they weren't killed when a neighboring tribe raided the village, weren't mauled by a wild animal, didn't die from a broken leg, etc. Yes, modern science has practically eliminated things like infant mortality, and a serious injury no longer means death, and modern sanitation means that the spread of pathogens has drastically declined. These factors DO lead to a longer average lifespan, but they have nothing to do with DIET which is what we are discussing here.

Humans, like every other animal, are biologically designed to eat ONE set diet. No other animal has to think about what it should be eating, nor does it need to "track nutrients" or "make sure its eating a balanced diet" LOL. The anthropological science on this is entirely clear: our pre-homosapien ancestors were herbivores until we started scavenging for nutrient and calorie dense fat and meat from already-killed corpses. This inclusion of animal fats (brains and bone marrow which other carnivores couldn't get to because they can't smash skulls and bones) is what sparked the growth in our brains, which then led to us learning how to hunt, which means that we then started eating even MORE fat because we could now kill animals ourselves and get at nutrient dense internal organs, which meant even further growth in our brains. Here's where evolution comes in: if one organ is getting bigger and its energy requirement is growing (ie: the brain), then there has to be a "loss" somewhere else. The human brain uses a MASSIVE ~20-25% of your caloric energy. In humans, to account for this huge discrepancy in energy requirement, this meant a significant decrease in total gut size, smaller organs, and smaller muscles. A smaller gut meant that we LOST the ability to ferment and synthesize cellulose and fiber from plants into saturated fats, as this requires huge surface area in the cecum and colon which in hind-gut herbivorous apes houses millions of bacteria (the bacteria is what is actually responsible for fermenting plant matter). The cecum in humans is virtually nonexistent (its what we call the appendix and can actually be removed with zero metabolic pitfall) and our colons are tiny. Our colon can only metabolize something like 7-9% of our required energy needs, this means that we have no way to extract our energy needs from calorie-weak plant matter because we can't house the bacteria that are necessary for fermentation. So where do we get our energy needs then? A carnivorous fat-dense diet, which is why the human stomach is extremely acidic like every other carnivore: acidity kills pathogens in meat and the pepsin and hydrochloric acid that your stomach secretes is there to break down animal tissue and denature protein so that your small-intestine, which is where nearly all digestion happens in humans, can extract the nutrients. An acidic stomach is also entirely incompatible with herbivorous behavior because the acidity kills plant-fermenting bacteria, which is why all herbivorous animals (gorillas, cows, etc) have highly alkaline pH balance in their stomachs which accomplishes the opposite: an alkaline environment INVITES this bacteria to thrive in the gut, so that it can actively ferment the huge volume of plant matter that these animals consume for energy.

Anyone who tries to tell you that you need to eat more plant matter and less animal fat and meat is a complete moron, doctors included. ALL plant-matter is toxic to some degree in humans, and poses some level of stress on the digestive system, which is why extreme bloating, "leaky gut syndrome", diarrhea, etc. are so common in people who try to go vegan or fruitarian. A human being is not meant to **** 2-3-4 times a day, or spend all day farting, which is what happens when you consume a diet centered around plants. ALL plants digest poorly in humans and do some level of damage, of course this varies in individuals with certain people being better able to tolerate the toxicity.
Any (credible) sources to back all this, frankly ludicrous, stuff?

Your body produces glucose on its own, very little but enough for your brain. Obviously for lifting you would need more. Your body doesnt need carbs for glucogenesis though, it can convert protein.

Fats are needed to maintain hormones, protein needed to repair and hold on to as much muscle as possible. Carbs give a bit of energy for a workout but other than that offer not much else. I love keto, my energy is constant throughout the day with no insulin spikes and dips.

It's a matter of % of daily calories though not grams. Ie. probably better to cut down some excess carbs when going deep into a cut versus cutting protein % and risking muscle loss, or cutting fat % and possible ****ing with your steroid hormones.

Why do you fad diet supporters always bring up McDonald's/fast food/soda/processed garbage, as though anyone suggested that THAT was healthy? People advising a moderate diet without super strict rules aren't suggesting that you get Krispy Kreme doughnuts/creamed coffee for breakfast, McDonald's/XL soda for lunch, and Pizza Hut w/ soda for dinner every day.

Carbs don't maintain correct hormone levels. Try upping your carbs and drastically reducing your fat intake for a week and you're gonna feel bloated, sleepy and irritable.

fat restriction only affects steroid hormones if you restrict EFAs too much or if you become deficient in A, D, E or K. Steroid hormones are made from cholesterol, not fat. My fat intake is 40g or less per day and I wake up with a diamond cutter every morning at Age: 36 srs

Maybe someone can help me out here in regards to burning fat and keto.

Being on a true ketogenic diet causes your body to burn fat as fuel. Heres my problem with this (and this is me just thinking)

1. There is FAT - the fat on your body.
2. There is fat - the "macro" fat.

I think what people think this statement means is that your body burns FAT as fuel. I believe what that statement means is that your body burns fat as fuel. Which is obvious, you eat more fat than carbs or protein - your body needs fuel - it burns fat because it has the most to use. This does not mean, however; that your body is burning FAT. people mix up fat and FAT all the time. The only way your body burns FAT as fuel is when your in a cal deficit (which yes, you may be in on a keto diet, but also any diet, so any diet turns your body into a FAT burning machine.)

What think misc? I think the fact that the macro fat and the blubber on our body FAT have the same name is super confusing for people.

your grasp of the biochemistry is lacking srs. when you eat lipids, they are transferred via chylomicrons to the adipocytes. there is a constant transmembrane flux at the adipocyte of free fatty acids being released and reesterified. an individual's overall fatness is determined by whether there is a net gain or loss collectively at the adipocytes. they are always losing and gaining nonesterified fatty acids.

the amount of carbs as a percentage that our bodies turn into fats by de novo lipogenesis is tiny.

probably 95% of the fat on a person's body started out as dietary fat and i'm ded srs

This doesn't sound like the process of lipogenesis to me. Which is primarily driven by insulin and glucose.

you could not be more wrong. if that were true, humans would have died out a long time ago.

imagine an organism that is so autistic that it can't store fat as fat.

CHO and ethanol (primarily) modulate the extent to which fat is stored/oxidized, but it is the fat itself in the food that becomes body fat for the most part.

Lower fat (15-25% of total cals) diets do seem to have observable effects on serum androgens. Will it be that significant on your physique and health, probably not unless you're dieting for a long time, but the relationship is there

there are too many variables to conclude that carb or fat restriction affects androgens. i'm not convinced that all potential deficiencies are being accounted for. all i know is that a high fat diet isn't necessary for healthy hormone levels. "you need fat to make hormones" is spouted constantly and patently false.

low fat/high fiber can interfere with hormones due to a seemingly little-known process called enterohepatic recirculation, but the purpose of that isn't even fully known as far as I can tell. i suspect that gut bacteria conjugate hormones that are then reabsorbed in different forms. pretty fukken wild.

the amount of carbs as a percentage that our bodies turn into fats by de novo lipogenesis is tiny.

probably 95% of the fat on a person's body started out as dietary fat and i'm ded srs
You used a lot of fancy words that no one here understands and I am pretty sure you didnt even answer my question.

imagine an organism that is so autistic that it can't store fat as fat.

CHO and ethanol (primarily) modulate the extent to which fat is stored/oxidized, but it is the fat itself in the food that becomes body fat for the most part.
