his ******* coworker was on keto. he looked better, but he was like 21, if you're a fat phuck at 21 , turn around and let me slip inside you.

Stopped eating in the office for this reason srs. It never just stops at a comment here and there -- it's always turned into daily "banter".

It's funny AF when you catch these ketocels (and intermittent fasters) cheating though. I'll never forget the day I got in extra early and caught my "IF and keto for life bro" colleague tucking into fukken carrot cake for breakfast.

People died mostly to violence and illness. Having mcdonalds on every corner and chugging soda all day is a modern invention but definitely not conducive to health. He just means we evolved to prefer a certain type of diet. Heart disease used to be a rare thing.

I tried keto years and years ago for a cutting phase, it didn't work to well. I prefer to follow an IF protocol and cycle my carbs now.

I've noticed the keto trend is strengthening lately. There's so much ignorance being spewed that it makes my mind spin. And as many have described, a lot of these people who claim to follow keto are either doing it badly and/or look really terrible. I used the term 'flat' to describe them, to which a colleague said 'yes, that's exactly it.' rip glycogen.

When did I say that eating McDonald's and chugging soda was healthy? I never suggested fast food/heavily processed foods were the epitome of healthy eating; YOU put those words into my mouth.

There was a whole wing in my office doing keto a couple of months ago. Everytime I would walk by their area and see them eat, they would be eating chit that's totally not keto. The ignorance involving dieting and macros will always amaze me.

LOL no. Being in ketosis is literally our adaptation to starvation. The first human foods were fruit, honey, and tubers. The longest living populations and some hunter gather tribes eat mostly carbs. Even the Inuits are not in ketosis and there are no populations that have a fat intake above 50%.

by moderation i was thinking of Kcal consumption, if you do keto and consume 10k Kcals every day you will still be fat soyboy.

i used wrong expression sorry

in the end its all about kcal in kcal out if you are just aiming to lose weight (if you dont care to build muscle or whatever because bitches be lazy as fook).

for me Carnivore style and IF is working like a charm (for now) i literally eat 3-4LBS meat a day and im staying on same weight but i do bust my ass in the gym 6 days a week.

I love having the conversation "high carb low fat is actually the more efficient for your body and you'll lose weight faster as long as you count Cal's". Every single time "but fat doesn't make you fat!!!". Science-- not even once.

Heard someone once say how easy dieting on keto is because they live on Crock-Pot chicken thighs with bacon and cheese .. brb lost 20lbs of waterweight in the first month of keto, holding at 270lbs for 6 months of "dieting" after that fukkin lmao

most people just use keto as an excuse to eat a bunch of bacon and cheese and claim they're losing weight. it never lasts.

i'm sure if it's done right it works for people.

The fattest people i know are jumping on the keto band wagon. Its just another fad diet but OP is correct. They all think they are dieticians now. Joe Rogan's guest said it best the other day on his podcast. The reason these people are losing weight is because of caloric restriction. Most of the people i know doing it are the officel types who eat like chit 3 meals a day. All of the sudden without the sugar and carbs the weight is coming off....

This is a complete myth because those "average life expectancy" figures don't take into account the infant-mortality coefficient which is what ACTUALLY brings the life-expectancy of "ancient humans" down considerably, on top of other numerous factors like the fact that your ancient ancestors lived far more dangerous lives whereas you spend your life in the safety of your modern home and the modern office you work in. Living in the wild is extremely hard on newborns and infants, the data suggests that those who survived past ~5-6 years old very often lived to old age, assuming that they weren't killed when a neighboring tribe raided the village, weren't mauled by a wild animal, didn't die from a broken leg, etc. Yes, modern science has practically eliminated things like infant mortality, and a serious injury no longer means death, and modern sanitation means that the spread of pathogens has drastically declined. These factors DO lead to a longer average lifespan, but they have nothing to do with DIET which is what we are discussing here.

Humans, like every other animal, are biologically designed to eat ONE set diet. No other animal has to think about what it should be eating, nor does it need to "track nutrients" or "make sure its eating a balanced diet" LOL. The anthropological science on this is entirely clear: our pre-homosapien ancestors were herbivores until we started scavenging for nutrient and calorie dense fat and meat from already-killed corpses. This inclusion of animal fats (brains and bone marrow which other carnivores couldn't get to because they can't smash skulls and bones) is what sparked the growth in our brains, which then led to us learning how to hunt, which means that we then started eating even MORE fat because we could now kill animals ourselves and get at nutrient dense internal organs, which meant even further growth in our brains. Here's where evolution comes in: if one organ is getting bigger and its energy requirement is growing (ie: the brain), then there has to be a "loss" somewhere else. The human brain uses a MASSIVE ~20-25% of your caloric energy. In humans, to account for this huge discrepancy in energy requirement, this meant a significant decrease in total gut size, smaller organs, and smaller muscles. A smaller gut meant that we LOST the ability to ferment and synthesize cellulose and fiber from plants into saturated fats, as this requires huge surface area in the cecum and colon which in hind-gut herbivorous apes houses millions of bacteria (the bacteria is what is actually responsible for fermenting plant matter). The cecum in humans is virtually nonexistent (its what we call the appendix and can actually be removed with zero metabolic pitfall) and our colons are tiny. Our colon can only metabolize something like 7-9% of our required energy needs, this means that we have no way to extract our energy needs from calorie-weak plant matter because we can't house the bacteria that are necessary for fermentation. So where do we get our energy needs then? A carnivorous fat-dense diet, which is why the human stomach is extremely acidic like every other carnivore: acidity kills pathogens in meat and the pepsin and hydrochloric acid that your stomach secretes is there to break down animal tissue and denature protein so that your small-intestine, which is where nearly all digestion happens in humans, can extract the nutrients. An acidic stomach is also entirely incompatible with herbivorous behavior because the acidity kills plant-fermenting bacteria, which is why all herbivorous animals (gorillas, cows, etc) have highly alkaline pH balance in their stomachs which accomplishes the opposite: an alkaline environment INVITES this bacteria to thrive in the gut, so that it can actively ferment the huge volume of plant matter that these animals consume for energy.

Anyone who tries to tell you that you need to eat more plant matter and less animal fat and meat is a complete moron, doctors included. ALL plant-matter is toxic to some degree in humans, and poses some level of stress on the digestive system, which is why extreme bloating, "leaky gut syndrome", diarrhea, etc. are so common in people who try to go vegan or fruitarian. A human being is not meant to **** 2-3-4 times a day, or spend all day farting, which is what happens when you consume a diet centered around plants. ALL plants digest poorly in humans and do some level of damage, of course this varies in individuals with certain people being better able to tolerate the toxicity.

keto, if somehow done correctly by the unsophisticated, is perfect for your 100% sedentary receptionist at work who will never exercise no matter what. that's what it was designed for; matching carb intake to need makes perfect sense

i hear about people doing anaerobic chit like HIIT and lifting on keto but I don't fukken know how they are mustering enough gluconeogenesis for glycogen repletion while still maintaining a sufficient supply for their brain (never runs 100% on ketones) and kidneys (only run on glucose)

Eh, I'm convinced ketogenic diets down regulate thyroid function

I don't have anything to back that up. Just a hunch based on observations

Ive listened to countless experts in the field on the JR podcast and most agree it is excellent for the average Joe. People are misinformed thinking they need a mountain of carbs just to get through the day. Its BS if you're on your ass all day on a computer. Plus you wind up with insulin spikes and crashes.

yeah these are the people that end up in hospitals nausated and throwing up uncontrollably because their body is too acidic. Keto is a dangerous diet to play with unless you know wtf your doing and can monitor your labs safetly.

Lol I was staying at the Omni hotel in Ft Worth for my buddy’s wedding, and there was some kind of keto convention happening at the same time. Conference rooms packed with people chanting “CARB RESISTANCE IS MY POWER! Go, go, go!” and breaking wooden arrow shafts on their throats/clavicles.

Saw a bunch of them at the hotel bar later drinking and eating bar food lol

I don't have anything to back that up. Just a hunch based on observations
that has to happen. i've seen studies that showed drops in T3. hypothalamus treats carb restriction the same as starvation.

the one with layne and dom was interesting. dom was saying you'd have to fukken be on keto for like 6 months for your body to fully acclimate. maybe my logic is wrong, but if my body prefers to run on ketones, it's going to rapidly upregulate all enzymatic machinery in days, not fukken months.
