B. Therefore, to say "there is life on earth so there must be life on earthlike planets" is stupid.

It’s not stupid when you consider the universe is virtually infinite in possibilities for life to appear - now wether there is any chance we will ever encounter it is another issue completely.

So is Frank Drake, the accomplished world famous astrophysicist a retard too?

Even ignoring the sheer probability of host planets, it's looking more and more likely that life even exists on hostile planets.

Someone should inform astronomers to stop wasting their time studying Europa for possible life too, now that Brozart, the insignificant miscer has endowed the world with enlightenment.

as far as i can recall, i didn't call you a retard, either, though to say conclusively that you aren't would be ignoring some pretty strong evidence to the contrary in this thread.

re: the drake equation:
The equation was written in 1961 by Frank Drake, not for purposes of quantifying the number of civilizations, but as a way to stimulate scientific dialogueat the first scientific meeting on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI).
Criticism of the Drake equation follows mostly from the observation that several terms in the equation are largely or entirely based on conjecture. Star formation rates are well-known, and the incidence of planets has a sound theoretical and observational basis, but the other terms in the equation become very speculative. Theuncertainties revolve around our understanding of the evolution of life, intelligence, and civilization, not physics. No statistical estimates are possible for some of the parameters,where only one example is known.
