It's not about working for buying material things, it's about working to build up a net worth that insures you never have to worry about money again, or even never have to work again if you don't want to.


I think money can indeed buy happiness, or a degree of happiness, if used that way.

Kind of true but not that much.

There are dudes out there working two full time jobs as janitors to pay for their 5 kids and they are still dirt poor. There isn't a guaranteed correlation between difficulty of a job or amount of hours worked and amount of income.

That said most of the rich people I know are lawyers who work(ed) 80 hour weeks for the first 10 years of their careers before they got enough status to get paid big while working less.

The absolute richest people I know worked about 40 hours or less through most of their careers at startups and are rich now due to the equity stakes they got.

Agree tbh, used to be a slacker but since start of 2019 have been grinding everything out. Yesterday went to sleep at like 1am and legit just conked at for 18 hours from exhaustion. **** is stressful tbh, not sure how long I can keep it going.

I stopped working at 40, will spend the next 30 to 50 years doing whatever the fuk I want. So, yes, totally worth it.
Eat in a deficit to lose weight.
Hit your protein and fat minimums to stay healthy and keep your gainz.
Lift heavy and do HIIT to look and feel awesome.
Use the internet to learn why you should do these things and how to do these things.

Can confirm. Made over 300k in sales last year and worked my ass off. Also didnt work out for over a year though so goal this year is 250k and more balance

Are you counting the daily lunches and dinners with other rich people as work hours? Pretty sure that's when most of the deals are done.I think you are grossly overestimating how much rich people really work, they have other people working for them.

Specify who are you talking about then? I have grown up rich so I know one or two things about rich people. By rich I mean the ones who own businesses or the most paid in their fields. E.g. the highest paid journalists I know write 2 articles at most daily.

With that I agree, you have to bust your ass to get rich. Maintaining it doesn't take too much work though, legit can't think of anyone rich that I know who I'd consider a hard worker.

When people say "work smart, not hard" this is where they are absolutely right. You have to make smart choices with your $ and plan ahead enough that you can weather things like 2008 without being screwed.

The goal should be to migrate to a passive income that is less than your average yearly spending so you can avoid tapping into your principal.

Trying to spend down your wealth has always seemed kind of crazy to me, like planning on dying at a specific age and under specific circumstances.

You can't take it with you but you can die knowing that you put your $ towards something important to you. This could be your family, local schools, a good charity .... just as long as its what you want you did in a way take it with you.

Pretty much. I've known plenty of rich and working class people. The rich didn't work any harder than the working class. If anything, they worked a lot less, unless you count networking through golf and having a night out for whores/side chicks as "work."

Miscers have this warped sense of what the rich do because they look at a doctor/lawyer working 60+ hours a week or a salesman whose income is directly proportionately to how much he works and sells. There's a big gap between these guys, who are upper-middle class professionals and make 200-500k a year, and the actual rich, who are worth millions in the least and whose wealth is largely made up of assets.
