They make it 4 years because they know that there are retards that have a slow learning curve, it is to appeal to everyone. But in reality, any demi intelligent person could learn the bulk in 2 weeks

This is actually interesting. Good rebuttal srs.

Probably.

The field I work in can be very complex, but my job you could damn near train a chimp to do.

lol, its not about what or who you know... yes most jobs can be learned proficiently within a year on what to do throughout the day to day, however are you able to lead by example, put in the time and effort for x amount of years, think creatively on how to better position yourself and others around you? Day to day repetitive tasks can all be taught, but theres moments in every job that require people to step up and make out of the box decisions, or listen, understand, and lead which not every can or want to do...

True, that's what separates the alpha's from the betas. People that can lead for example.

I like to think of my job as being high skilled, then I remember all the utterly useless bosses I've had and how the projects genuinely would have been better if they had gone on 5 year sabbaticals.

troll thread or not, who you know really is key in getting in the door, or keeping your job if you are a worthless fukk like some of my former bosses who were BFFs with the GMs or EPs

I think this just proves any dipsh*t with an ounce of ambition could be a lawyer. I think more than any other career field... they are not all created equal. Similarly to engineers. There are engineers who work for companies that make paper bags, and there are engineers that work on Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile systems.

Can't believe how hard you are trying to convince everyone how important you are... JFL.

Just lol... Op can learn anything in 2 weeks.

You're completely wrong and I'd love to type out about the knowledge I had to learn and the amount of repetitions I had to do to be competent. You have to understand if **** hits the fan you have to rely on your training if you are in a jam. Like I said 2 weeks is a little low but back when my dad did training his was 16 weeks. My training was 33 weeks so yeah it's definitely a lot of fluff now.

As a software developer i think it would take years to do MY role in MY company, it's high pay but high expectations.

There are however a lot of **** software developers out there, but still it takes more than 2 weeks for someone without competency in the field to even get good enough to be able to fraud their way into a job.

I've come across tons of incompetent people in other roles in IT over the years though, especially project managers.

It's cool you are passionate about your job but it wouldn't take anywhere near that long to be competent. Sorry but some of u are giving yourselves too much credit.

Yeah there are some legit software developers out there and some that don't know a thing, I agree. What's your stack?

I think STEM jobs you need a higher level of competency to even fake it, part of that is companies insisting on degrees probably, i've come across bad software developers but not at my current company where the standards are very high.

However, most jobs come down to the individual for sure, and project managers are a good example. I've worked with a lot of really poor project managers, and you could probably do the job to their level of competency in a week... but i've also had really, really good ones who have a wide skillset and really take time to understand technical projects. I have noticed, however, good project managers are usually highly respected in companies and stay for years and are often moved up the hierarchy fairly quickly, which is probably a testament to how many **** ones there are.

Most unskilled jobs are paying you for your time, rather than to do a complex job so of course most of these can be learned very easily.

Lead for a large union construction company.

You couldn't even learn how to frame a doorway in 2 weeks let alone the skills to improvise on half the stuff that needs to get done. That and the huge book of rules that need to be applied to building codes, fire rating, seismic, bracing, load bearing, and making 6-7 different trades work all come together seamlessly

People think being a tradie is hurr Durr work but I do more complex and analytical thinking than you would ever imagine

Could learn the majority of that on YouTube. You are delusional. There is a reason that sector has so many drug abusers, degenerates and fuk tards.

Once you get higher in STEM jobs, it becomes easier to weed out the people that are chit. I still hold my thought the majority of jobs can be learnt though in a short amount of. Time, high level software developer is definitely not in that group though.
