Current:
Management Consultant (not Strategy) & CPA
Age - 30
Salary - $100K and was supposed to go up to at least $105K, probably $110K until COVID hit and raises were frozen
Bonus - Target was 10-15% of comp, but that's also out the window now
Misc perks/health allowances + 23 days PTO that I can't take or else I miss utilization targets

Hopefully New:
Lead Financial Analyst/Manager
Age - 30
Salary - $110K + 15% bonus and a decent stock option program + excellent 401K match
Misc perks/health allowances + 15 days PTO that I can use

Both of these are in HCOL areas but not SF/NYC/Boston level expensive. The salary is very good and I live quite comfortably, but it feels tighter than it should because I'm maxing out my 401K and rent is expensive. That said, as long as I don't go stupid on going out every weekend, I feel I'm doing quite well since I'm not constantly eating out or wasting money on stupid chit like a lot of yuppies in finance.

Most of the candidates I place make between 80-200k a year. I do both contract (pay a candidate $50/hr, bill them out for $80/hr) and direct placement (20-25% fee of the candidates salary).

Nice, I'm hoping to break 300k next year with bonuses. It's never enough though is it?

I'm happy with my current situation but pay won't get much better on this side of the border... need to stack some US dollars if I want to ever buy a well-located house here lol.

Nice, man. I questioned why you couldn't afford a house... Until I saw the location.

A Canadian friend of mine living in Van bought a 1 bedroom 650sqft condo for $550k. I was in shock at the price for such a small place.
