I wasn’t gonna go back to VA though and to try and fight for a roof over my head even though this was shortly after getting my first rented room after coming out here.

It was july , my then roommate might have already decided to kick my ass out because I come home from work dirty , don’t remember , wouldn’t have affected my decision either way

I’ve made some bad choices though , no doubt

rather learn at a tender young age then in my 30s though even though it only gets you so far

it’s hard to get a lease with no credit history

that’s something that’s much easier done with a support system

A secured cc isn’t a enough to get a lease btw , they need tangible rental history lol

I only read a quarter but my greater point was society spits on the working class, less unfortunate , and the mentality always is “ must have deserved it”.

People will virtue signal all day about helping their fellow man or not passing judgement but they always do.

It’s just in our nature to look down on others instead I guess.

I listened to J.D. Vance speak a bit when he was on The Ben Shapiro Show a few weeks ago, and that was the first time I had heard about this book or it's accompanying film.

I was pretty shocked to hear how many people had had such a visceral negative reaction to it, and I honestly thought the primary critiques (that it 'ignored' some group of people by talking about another group of people, or presented unrealistic ideas of attaining success) were completely laughable.

That's why I am amazed to see similar notions being thrown around in the misc. Apparently a lot of brahs running around this place with a victim mentality.
