One thing i like about GRRM compared to hollywood garbage writers.. is that he makes women just as bad (arguably even worse then) men

Supposedly Martin's original idea for the Valyrians to be mulatto.

He scrapped that eventually, but suoposedly it was his idea to go the darker skin route with the shows version of the Velaryons.

Anyones whos read Fire & Blood ( better than the last 2 GoT books) knows where this is going. First season is establishing characters and building. Chit will hit the fan with the season ender going into S2.

The thing is that the racial issue/agenda is the least of the complaints I heard, I brought in as many people of the House of Driftmark.

As jarring as the cast change in the last episode was; they justified it with this episode. I did not even think or questioned or even remembered the new cast thru the episode until I came back to refresh this thread.

Makes sense, directors knew how butt hurt the GoT finale felt and probably knew that the cast changes were going to create a ton of backlash(aka publicity) but were probably smirking at how it was being received knowing the had this ace up their sleeve.

Top tier quality tv show boyos. IN.

i love this show

the kid stole the dragon on the funeral of his (aunt?) then beat his cousins asses that were bullying him. mass drama and a nice twist at the end - i cant wait until next week and every week i assume the king is gonna die

Oh lawd, this episode was lit.

Spoiler!

Damn was there a solar eclipse or something? The setting went from sunny to murky with no visibility for no reason. Everyone is at Lea's funeral and her uncle is giving a speech and then Dae starts giggling, master troll. All the families are at "odds" with each other, alot of stares and non verbal communications. Rhae runs off and bangs Dae, Aemond runs off and steals Lea's dragon and now has one.

I def wasn't expecting this fight between the kids, maybe a few pushes and then the guards come. Aemond 1v4'd Rhae's and Dae's kids, literally beat the chit out of all of em. I forgot which of Rhae's kids slashed his eye but fkn lol he's gonna get them back in the future. Back in the hall all the families rush in to check on their kids, Rhae sees hers with blood, Dae sees his with blood, Alibaby sees hers with half his face cut open and she goes apechit. Vis is shook af and just wants everyone to calm down. Ali wants justice but Vis says no and Rhae says lets just put it behind us, Ali says ok then says but gimme that ****** eye. I was like
Everyone starts freaking out again and Vis gets her to calm down again. Then she tells Criston to go get his eye and he's like
Vis tells Criston to stay and she claps at him and he goes after the kid and I'm like
He gets held back and then Ali is like
All this is happening bc Ali's kids told everyone what they already know about Rhae's kids. Rhae is going through all of this to protect a lie, which everyone there sees and acknowledges except Vis. Ali charges Rhae with the dagger and Rhae grabs her, they conversate and then pull away, but not before Ali accidently slashes her arm.

Dae still in the same spot like

Dae and Rhae come up with a plan to marry, but they need to kill Lae first. It wasn't apparent if the actual plan was to kill Lae or make it look like he was dead, but Lae and his boy toy faked his death and ran away to a faraway land.

All the factions and storylines from last week are 2-3x, as the children get older their hatred for one another grows. Power couple Reamon is stacked atm, theres two adults and four children, with a number of dragons between them. Otto is back as the Hand, but Larys Strong still has alot of influence on the Queen. Ser Criston chose the Queen over the King, that look Ser Harrold gave him when he went to stab the kid
Coryls and Rheana have no kids left so their power is waning, they can either fight for more power or die out. Idk how Vis is still alive, thought he was gonna die in episode 2.

I don’t love the time jumps but to be fair it’s following the timeline of the book from what I understand (it’s the ONLY book of martins I haven’t read). So I understand why they are doing it. It makes a lot more sense than the GoT show that followed a strict timeline then deviated from it at the end because dumb and dumber got bored.

I'm kinda glad they are doing the story sequentially instead of just doing flashbacks with different actors like GoT did. I can't stand shows with lots of flashbacks and different timelines.

Yeah for sure, at first I was saying it was too slow. Now the backstory of each family is built and you know why/how things will play out in the future.

Something you, the producers and everyone else is forgetting is that Laenor is not fully black.

His mother is white so he’s biracial making his supposed kids with Rhaenyra 75% white and only a quarter black.

People that are only a quarter black look white or ambiguous at best 90% of the time (Halsey, Ryan Giggs, Rebecca Hall, Ryan Trippier, Natasha Hamilton, etc). So the fact that the bastards look white isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that they don’t have blonde hair.

Daemon’s daughters are poorly casted as they are also 1/4 black and should therefore not look black like they do.

But whatever, at first I did feel the race swap thing was unnecessary but I’m over it now and think the black seasnake guy fits the role well. Show has exceeded my expectations after the terrible ending of GOT.

Yesterday was another great event full episode. Again another character changes and time jump but they did it for a reason, they have justified it.

9/10 overall so far.

Any miscers still watching?
