🐉🐉🐉Official House of Dragons Thread🐉🐉🐉

Not sure if we have a thread like we did for the OG GoT so I thought I would make one.

House of Dragons is based on parts of the novel Fire & Blood, the series is set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It portrays the beginning of the end of House Targaryen, the events leading up to and covering the Targaryen war of succession, known as the "Dance of the Dragons".

No not really, its a prequel (200 years) prior to GoT. The story is about the House of Targaryens, the dragon riders.

There was an orgy scene with a bunch of T and A, doesn’t seem like there are any immediate HBBs in the story at this point.

I mean you should probably watch GOT first. No chance this lives up to it even if the last season of game of thrones wasn’t good.

Because all the promotional material for it seemed woke. The casting is woke as hell too and knowing how chitty things ended in the future via game of thrones season 8, the stakes are boring and the story is tainted.

Was there a pregnancy scene in episode 1? The directors and actors are already saying the scene was meant to raise awareness on Roe v Wade. Why are they injecting modern politics into a fantasy show with dragons?

Episode 1 was pretty damn good, but I'm not picky. Love GoT. Sure, the last season had issues but I watch to be entertained, not to critique.

Re: the pregnancy scene being added to bring note to Roe v Wade. I hadn't heard that, and if you wouldn't have said it, I'd have never known that was their intention. It was a pretty damn intense scene. Ignorance is bliss I guess, couldn't care less what they try to add to the show to be "woke."

At the risk of sounding racist though, the black "targaryen" guy is quite a stretch lol, they should've cast someone else as the token black guy if they were dead set on doing that

If you compare it to the first episode of Game of Thrones this doesn't come near. I won't follow this week to week. If the reviews are good at the end I'll watch it back to back.

It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either.

I didn’t see much wokism from any of the HoD trailers, the new Lord of the Rings had a chit ton. Not sure how the casting is woke, from the 100+ ppl on the screen I saw 3-4 blacks with silver hair (royal family of some sort) and one asian handmaiden to the queen.

There was a pregnancy scene but watching it it had no tones of Roe v. Wade, I’m sure the scene was filmed and written years ago so. The scene to me just highlighting the roles that women and men have to/expected to play in pre-modern times. I think the stats for child deaths pre age was pretty ****ing high, as we heard from his wife who had 2 stillbirths, a girl, and a few other deaths. Can’t ignore the king’s dream about the baby being a son and it being his last chance to continue his family line.

Gonna copy n paste chit I wrote in the opening night thread.

My first impressions of the show was that it was shot nice and Matthew Smith who usually does sorta silly stuff like Morbius and Dr. Who was great as the arrogant next in line free wheeling noble.

The story points in movies and in real life instances are the same. The most important thing in any realm/dynasty/kingdom is the line of succession. If the king has a son then nothing else matters, the son is next in line. If there is no son then chit gets real. Normally 40-50% of the lords/nobles/people love the king, 30-40% hate him due to a number of reasons ie. different religion/different family line/different ethnic background, the other remaining people are just status quo essentially supporting whoever is in power so they don’t get fkd.

Vis needs a son to ensure his line goes on thru his families name. If he doesn’t have a son next in line is his brother. He banished his bro for openly chitting on his wife/kid so he is left with his daughter to replace him. The Iron Throne has never had a female leader so chit is gonna get real. Rhaenys got passed over bc she was a girl so I’m sure she gonna try to rekt the daughter for getting the throne, the black guy gonna help his wife. Dae wants the throne too but he cares for Rhaenyra so chit gonna get real too.

I think if you want to make a story where you have multiple valid claims to the throne you have to make a situation that has never occured before ie. female being placed in the throne. Her position is weak due to her being a female, and whoever she marries their family lineage is going to clash with the Targs

The black guy is married to the woman who supposedly was or expected to become the ruler of the land before Viserys was chosen. So of course Rhaenys hates him internally and her husband hates him internally too but you can’t come out and say it. You can see the king and his hand point that out and **** on the black guy for his families loyalties. Just read that Rha was the daughter of the King who chose Viserys instead of herself lmao, yeah she mad.

I can see your point. But thats literally every story ever told. The kid, either a boy or girl wants to do something but they can’t because of real life things. I’ve seen a ton of period piece shows where the boy wants to be a poet or an artist and his family claps back at him and tells him to get his chit together and be a warrior or lead the kingdom.

The black dudes are supposed to all be white. I know this because I used to be a huge GOT ****ot. They changed the color just to have a token black house.

Of course the scene was written long before the article came out but my point was to show the state of mind of the directors and people involved in the show to make such comparisons.

Circumstances are differen on this one. GRR stopped having input into the show around season 4/5 and you can get a sense of a hiccup but then they completely ran out of original material since he hasn't finished the books anyways so it was a loose interpretation of how things would have played out. This series GRR is at the helm virtually and there's even an article talking about it's the show GRR always wanted, can Google it.
