I don't even open the door for strangers in broad daylight with a peephole. I couldn't imagine opening the door blind at 11pm.

Also everyone should reinforce their door with 3" screws to make it harder to kick open, and have a loaded gun for home defense. I know canada is cucked beyond belief, but at least have some kind of weapon ready to go

Violence has taken off sadly. Glad you are doing better. I few weeks ago I added a new video ring camera to my door. the old ones batteries had given up and the new one has a better camera for night viewing it appears.

Security cameras are a fuking waste of time....so police can review footage after criminals have broken in and raped you? I have sensors on doors and windows so if anyone opens them the alrms go off giving me time to arm myself. Chits only gonna get worse, criminals gonna get more brazen/desperate....stay safe boyos

That's so fuked up, OP. Glad you're okay. Sounds like a really confusing and scary situation.

It's possible someone like that tried this with another house and either was caught on security camera or it didn't go as planned and someone saw and can identify him.

Hope you take some time to recover and take care of yourself. If you find yourself having difficulty shaking the memories, become hyper-vigilant, or are starting to have nightmares, do yourself a massive favor and seek out counselling to get that sorted out before it roots itself in and causes any more damage.

but why would you answer the door to somebody you are not expecting and do not know? especially a guy wearing a mask? And at 11pm at that. If it was a neighbour i'd rather have him call or something then to come knocking. If you got a glimpse of who it was through the side door why would you open?

after the attacker left you didnt run to door and close/lock it? you didnt watch where intruder was going? you went to kitchen to call police and dropped phone in sink with water in it. you said the police came over with dog which also doesnt make cents. Why wood the dog unit come out for an assault? they are mostly used for missing persons. Did you get any punches in? If someone attack me in my own home I wood go absolutely wild. run to kitchen - grab knife. how were you not able to react faster? If he rushed door you didnt try to slam it on them? how was he able to get full on swing?

Had this happen to me when I was a sophmore in college…I was living off campus, roommates havent moved in yet. Got out of the shower in like 8am and heard somebody downstairs. I put some boxers on and started running down the stairs yelling like “who the fuk is in my house” with a deep ass voice dude was trying to go for my ps2 but couldnt unhook it in time. So he ran out to my kitchen trying to get one of my knives but I jabbed him in the face and then he ran out my backdoor.

Outside of my campus was definitely hood…almost got tazed and robbed coming back from a party but I was wearing a wool hoody so the tazer just felt like somebody put a lighter on me…I was able to elbow the guy and runaway…there was like 4 of them. Guy a couple houses down was a congressman’s nephew was shot and killed in a home invasion, they finally caught the guy 10 years later.

It happened very quickly , and I’m kicking myself for being so defensive and not swinging .
I mean the guy didn’t look very heavy , and I could even grabbed him and lifted him up and pile driver his head into the floor breaking his neck .
I also have been kicking myself for not going to the kitchen for a knife .
Seems like I have I have a lot of regrets right now and wish I worked on the situation differently. You have to remember I was slightly lethargic after getting that first big blow to the head . To make matters worse I didn’t have the outside light on , or the light on at that side of the living room,as I was watching tv .
It’s easy to be an arm chair tough guy these days,but sadly realty can be different.
Regarding the K-9 unit , they have been very successful in finding people who have just left a crime scene if there on foot , and they use them often here .

What makes me the most pissed off is knowing it’s probably because of your useless drug addicted neighbour

The worst is yet to come unfortunately, as they may have to rebreak my nose . Sucks not making a paycheque also . I work in a bucket truck and have to wear a hard hat . Pretty tough when your heads all full of staples . Hopefully in a few weeks things are back to normal.
