Look....here is the difference between you and I.

I completely respect your decision to not drink alcohol. It is BY FAR HEALTHIER THAN DRINKING (other than maybe wine but that is still iffy).

Good for you and if it makes you happy even better.

I drink strictly vodka so I am sure I am in the 'bad zone'. Although I do only drink it with health mixers.

But the difference is I respect your decision to not drink. Good for you. Just don't rub it in my or any other people's face?

I'm not just going to tell you what you're doing is fine when it's not. You even admit it's not.

I've likely drank more than most (very possibly all) of the butthurt people in this thread.

Yet- What you've said doesn't offend me at all, and I can admit that there's quite a bit of truth to it. These seething responses are just...like let's have a little self reflection/awareness.

Never been to a dry wedding, but can't imagine it would be THAT bad tho unless you really don't know anyone else there...and are stuck on a fukking boat and can't leave... Even if you don't drink, watching someone make a damn fool of themselves is way more entertaining then cringe sober white people dancing.

I can have fun without alcohol.
I can't talk to uninteresting people, incapable of having informed, nuanced, conversation for more than about 5 minutes without alcohol. With alcohol and some minor trolling I can do it for about 3 hours. To say I need alcohol to have a good time at a wedding is a grave understatement. There isn't a chance in hell I would attend a wedding without alcohol. In fact I would NEVER attend a wedding that doesn't have an open bar. I can't stand weddings.

We only served wine and champagne at my wedding to see the cost down and drunken craziness at bay.

The reception was at my inlaws' house so we didn't want to hire a bartender.

In retrospect I would have hired a bartender, but back then I didn't drink.
