I know a guy that did the same thing but he didn't have to finish them off with extra shots. He kept getting broke into and so in his basement he built a little retaining wall a few feet high with some steel plate and heavy wood covering it. Some guys broke in and he jumped behind his wall and waited for them to walk around the corner and he blew them way with a shotgun. The guys were a couple of joggers that were even wearing some of his stuff that had been stolen in previous burglaries. The guy got off free, but this was 30 years ago in god's country, he probably wouldn't be so lucky today.

The correct action would have been to shoot them until they stopped moving/being a threat, call the police to come deal with the corpses

Its the calmly walking up and execution part, putting them in tarps, not calling police for over a day that got him in trouble, also the recording of it all pretty much let the police know this guy is an unhinged pyschopath


Could you imagine if police shoot at a criminal, he goes down the officers walk up later on and just say "your dead" and put the gun under their chin and pull the trigger?

How can you possibly know if someone is no longer a threat if they're still alive/moving? You don't know what their intentions are or what weapons they might have. Although I don't think anyone would say it's reasonable to shoot someone again two minutes later. If two minutes have passed (where you thought they were dead), they're clearly not a threat.

His actions after the initial shootings made it easy for the prosecutor. He shot her again, didn't call the police, and wrapped them up. I'm not surprised the jury found him guilty.

This guy went in front of a grand jury, through a trial then several appeals.

All he had to do was shoot them, then call the cops and he’d been a free man today
