That may be true for cruise ships but merchant ship crews are extremely small, like 20 people per ship. They are from all over the world. There's a few vlogs on youtube of their lives. Totally different operations compared to a cruise ship.

idk if they used pilots here or not.

Finally it could always be a mechanical failure like a stuck open throttle that the pilot/captain was fuked and had no time to recover from
almost guaranteed there would've been a harbor pilot on board a container vessel that big, looks like the ship became rudderless somehow by some mechanical failure

On this vid you can see a number of vehicles crossing the bridge before collapse but it actually looks like there weren't many/any on it when it collapsed.
Fuark…came in expecting a drunk captain now feeling bad for whoever was at the helm. They were helpless.

This is horrifying obviously for the people killed but I don't think people realize how much this is going to completely fuk Baltimore's traffic for the next several years. That bridge is part of the Baltimore belt way. What a disaster.

Key bridge is longer, built in deeper waters and has to be a certain height to allow container traffic. It's going to take years to rebuild.

Not denying that, just meant it isn't going to "spark change" in peoples lives.

Very tragic. Hope there are not to many who died from the incident. Glad it happened at night. Imagine it had fewer traffic on it then.

For the past year I've been living with active bridge construction, The 3 mile or about causeway bridge I frequently travel across collapsed due to hurricane winds. Thankfully Florida's governor DeSantis had a plan in such a situation. He had the bridge serviceable within a month for construction crews, and within 3 months for residence and businesses owners to drive over. The bridge is still a work in progress, but it is now easy to cross over, and all work should be ending soon.

I hope in Maryland they are able to repair the collapsed bridge as quickly as has been done here in Florida.

despite all the conspiracy theories, sometimes chit just happens

that ship that got stuck in the suez canal, the greek ferry that hit a sandbank and capsized because the the cnty crew were watching a football match, Zebrugge Ferry that sank because some cnt forgot to close the doors!, the Italian Concordia that hit a rock and partially capsized and the captain fckd off and went home!

chit happens
