Edit: this must be selling like hotcakes. That doubler setting with some bite and tightness dialed in already sounds like his tone.

Yo guitar people. Have played for 30 years and have only had an acoustic(s) for the last 5 or 8 years. Have always been a gibson guy.
Looking to get back into an electric and priorities are a fast and thin neck and an LP neck pickup solid/smooth tone.
was gonna get a used LP but wondering if anyone would want to talk me into a PRS or something else. back in the day the PRS's necks were super smooth with low action and very fast but didn't like the tone as much.
Anyway,……GO!
Second question - are any of the headphone bluetooth transmitters worth a crap?

Got into an argument the other day with some zoomer on ******** who was saying that there's no market for traditional electric guitars with 7 strings and all these fancy new brands these days.

It's a full featured unit but after now owning the AxeFX III for a while, there is simply no comparison if you want a real sounding and FEELING modeling option. I have used a Kemper for over a decade and it's truly remarkable but the AxeFX is finally what crossed the "This sounds better than what I am capable of dialing my real amps to sound like" threshold and even more critical for me as a gigging musician is the consistency of it sounding EXACTLY the same every single show. With my tube amps, I'm always having to make sure the mic position is just right, if we play at smaller venues, I can't turn the amp up as loud and the speakers don't get pushed as hard so it sounds different than at larger clubs, etc, etc.
IMO the new FM3 stomp unit from Fractal is the most interesting of all the modelers. It can do a LOT of what the full featured AxeFX 3 can do, is a floor unit, doesn't have a huge waiting list like it's big brother, the FM9, and despite having 25% of the processor power on paper of the AxeFX 3, it can do a significant amount of the processing for most players in terms of amp blocks, cab, plenty of high resolution effects and still has two in/out paths letting you run a guitar and mic into the unit and each have their own signal chain which the Stomp HX and Kemper can't. Best of all, it sounds identical to the full size AxeFX because it's using the same amp blocks, cab blocks, etc. There are some CPU hungry effects not in the FM3 but they're not very common. All the super high quality reverbs and delays and stuff are all there.
If I were to get one unit, it would be a tough call between the FM3's top of the food chain tone and feel vs the flexibility and extra buttons, expression pedal and super easy to work with user interface of the Helix LT.
The user interface of the fractal units is absolutely horrible but the software is really great to use. It makes quick changes on the fly during a show extremely challenging, if not impossible where as I've made easy tweaks on the Helix and stomp HX mid-song before.
It may be worth considering a used Stomp HX honestly. It will be by far the cheapest option and will get you into the Helix environment giving you the chance to hear the amp models, the drives, the cabs, the ability to load your own cab IR's (which is ESSENTIAL for the Helix IMO) and if you want to really get outside the box, you can get an attenuator or load box for your amp and then run a line out signal from the attenuator into the stomp HX, add effects and then into a cab IR block and out to a PA. It gives you the sound of the tube amp but the ability to tweak the sound using cab IR's, gives you high quality stereo effects (allowing you to have effects with an amp that may not have an FX loop at all) and you also get that control and consistency of the sound if you use it live as the cab IR's produce the same sound all the time but you still get control over the amp with it's knobs like usual. You can also still use a cab on stage. I did this for months with the stomp HX and my amps plugging into a THD hotplate attenuator. Made the sound guy's lives really easy.

My main amp is a Mesa Mark IV and while the direct recording output is pretty awesome, it'd be fun to have the variety available with modellers. I'm check out some local shops to see if anybody has any of these available for a test drive.
In other news, I have a Timmy OD arriving today. I'm hoping that'll expand my options for the R2 channel!

I don't have that kind of green for any axe I might like.
At least, it's less that the Olive Green Gibson ES335 which a buddy of mine got about a month ago.
I played it and it feels great and I love the color. (what's not to like about the USMC Olive Drab color )
It was $3200…..of course, he's a single guy.

This has the same bridge and pickups. Roasted neck and stainless frets. I'd expect the fretwork to be top notch if Fujigen and Sugi built Ibanez are anything to go by.
The purists might baulk at basswood but Guthrie can obviously play anything he wants. Jeff Beck's #1 Strat is basswood. Vai's guitars in 80s and early 90s including FLO today. All Ed's guitars after 1989. Satriani. Holdsworth insisted on basswood in the 80s before he developed a Steinberger fetish. Petrucci in the 90s.

I don't mind putting them together, doing fret ends, wiring, setup, etc. and while I appreciate guitar porn I don't want to play something where I'd be constantly eyeballing every scratch so I'll probably be a partscaster guy from here on out. A friend of mine recently got a Richie Kotzen Tele which I love playing but I'll most likely spec out a custom Tele body from a single piece of ash with the comfort cuts and simple finish, a big roasted neck with SS frets, and wire it up myself. Body: $650. Neck: $450. Bridge & tuners: $200. Pickups: $200. Pots, switch, & jack: $50. Total: $1550 + a few hours of my time.

Putting together guitars is an enviable skill.
I couldn't do it with any confidence but I see the appeal along with the cost effective end result.
I'm a Tele guy myself witch works for my song writing style and it's the most versatile electric guitar from my POV.
On spread for your partscaster skills.

Just my 2 cents but MIJ is up there with USA. I guess if they were looking for a more affordable model they'd build it in Mexico.

Don't get me started on partscasters. I have 3 and I'm probably going to sell 2 of my factory built guitars so I can build another or two

Be sure to post up the new build so we can do our obligatory drooling over a new axe.

I guess for the most part it's in line with inflation however considering how much is done on a CNC and people doing the final assembly are paid peanuts I think guitar prices are getting out of hand.

Speaking of the Kotzen Tele it's pretty heavy being ash with a maple top and a baseball bat neck. I'd like to copy that recipe minus the fancy flame maple top. There's no tone control on that guitar which takes some getting used to.
