LOL at scene in the gym a little while ago. All racks are full, typical miscer (skinny, red hair, thick glasses, 65lb OHP) is stretching out with a band in the rack. HBB, blonde ponytail, blue eyes, spandex etc walks into the gym and asks miscer if he's done with rack. He says "just getting started" and turns away to do more with his rubber band.
FFS - in that situation you ask what she's doing and whatever she's doing that day is what you had planned and you ask if she wants to work in. I almost wanted to walk up and tell him that (as part of my role as an OG,) but I had forearm work to do.

Only about 1% of drinkers are physically dependent, most fall into the psychologically dependent category. This can be a very difficult thing to overcome in its own right, especially if most of your free time revolves around it. I always suggest that you have your days planned out, from sun up until bed very early on. This will limit opportunity and keep you busy. It's also suggested to stay away from things that might tempt you to give in during the early days–this is where planning your days accordingly is beneficial.
The first full year was the most difficult for me, as my life had pretty much revolved around the next party. The common things would trigger me–long day at work, weekend, nice out, football games, etc. but breaking my days up into manageable chunks and not thinking too far ahead saved me on more than one occasion. I never promised myself that I would never drink again, that would have set me up for failure. Instead, I wake up and simply say that I'm not going to drink today .
Before you know it, those days start to stack up, new habits are formed, new coping mechanisms are developed, triggers are less frequent and intense and life actually starts to feel a bit better each day. I had a lot of trouble trying to analyze why I needed to quit and would form a lot of reasonable arguments to justify me going back–it was driving me crazy. Now, I just don't think about it. It is what it is and like I've said before here, at the end of the day, my life is exponentially better without alcohol in it.
Actually wanted to quote the post where you said "quitting has improved every aspect of my life"

Challenge accepted. Had my last beer last Monday night.
Has not improved:
Gym recovery. I don't know if it was the calories or what but my recovery is not as good.
Length of sleep. Though the quality has improved. Popped out of bed Sat/Sun AM at like 7:30 and started getting chit done, feeling great.
Has improved:
Sex and quality of bonrars
Confidence
Thickness of wallet
Loss of adipose fat
Productivity at home and werk

Agreed 100%. Quitting an addiction is the most difficult thing a person can go through.
Saturday was a little tough as my neighbors were drinking.
Going to try to keep going. No more drinking just because I like beer. Social events like pig roast, annual 4th of July party I will be throwing down beers with the family, that's the plan for now anyway.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
