Two Notes make great stuff.

Just a friendly heads up but I'd grab some spare tubes for your amp before things get stupid. Everything that isn't JJ (Slovak Republic) or Chinese is made in Russia.

Thanks!

I saw this mentioned on another board and with your endorsement as well, I think I better grab a full set!

I really need to get my chops back up, but its been so long since I've "learned" other music. Actually it's a while since I played with consistency, but I've been balls deep in writing again which feels really good, especially when the wife comes from the other room and asks "what song is that?!"
Big fan of Mastodon I even have a Brent Hinds Epiphone sig V. Their new album is fantastic.

Ive been using Scuffham S-Gear since it was recommended to me on here, very pleased but I have been considering two notes cause I've been on a Dokken trip lately and George Lynch has signature cab sims on Two Notes.

Speaking of which he's really dragging out the shipping on this custom guitar lol it's been over 7 months hahaha

Never tried Mullard reissue tubes. My favorite modern 12AX7 is Tung-Sol.

Not really the place to discuss this but I'm glad you're not boycotting in this case. All that does is hurt an American company (EHX) and lowly paid factory workers abroad.

I poured over reviews for a while and got enough for running all Svetlana in the pre-amp, but I also got a mix of Mullard and Tung-Sol to try some rolling. I think the Mullard is destined for V1 and a Tung-Sol in V2. I'm gonna try mixing the Mullard EL-34's with Tung-Sol 7581's in the power section, but might will all try all 7581's.

Agreed on all points. I don't want to hurt businesses and workers to spite their governments.

As expected:

Attention All EHX Tube Customers

Yesterday, Russia imposed a ban on the export of some 200 goods in response to the sanctions imposed on it over the current conflict in Ukraine. We have confirmed that the ban applies to our seven brands of Russian tubes. Currently, the ban is set to remain in effect until the end of the calendar year.

Given this export ban, we will not be receiving any further tube inventory for these brands. A myriad of pressures — including continued strains on the supply chain, escalating internal expenses, mounting inflation, and an ever-evolving legal landscape (particularly in light of the Ukraine conflict) — have created a very fluid and ambiguous environment. Until we can properly assess the impact of these factors, we will not honor any new orders or ship any more Russian tubes on back order.

Rock & Roll,

I'd buy some now since there's no guarantee Russian tubes will be back in production. And even if you don't want Russian tubes JJ will struggle to meet demand so prices across the board will go up.

I was about to buy a few Tung-Sol preamp tubes and they just jumped from $25 to $60. Of course people will complain and say "I'm not paying that" but then they'll eventually be stuck with even higher prices on ebay, etc. These businesses have to cover losses down the road by charging more now because once they're gone they'll have nothing to sell.

Yep, I have a Mark IV.

I'm in Canada and get mu tubes locally, but I have read great things about service from Eurotubes in the US:

mind nuked this thread is still active

I recently picked the guitar back up after almost two years , I forgot how good playing was for the mind and the soul

im picking up a axe fx iii as soon as I can to replace the cheaper line 6 helix rack unit I had for home practice and recording

I still have my 6505+ with a two note captor load box going into a Focusrite interface which still sounds decent enough

do you guys have any advice for trying to compose drums and bass parts for the riffs im writing ?

its crazy my two Jackson rr1 guitars have held almost perfect tune for 2 years in a storage unit

Yes….I do.

Don't let it's name deceive you.
It's a great program for what you're asking.
I've used it many times on my original songs over the last several years. (see my link below is remotely interested)

It's called "Band In A Box"
There is a learning curve but anything worth dong requires some discipline & sacrifice.

Anyone here use fractal Audio stuff ?

I was gonna buy a axe fx 3 but apparently there’s a smaller foot switch version called the FM3 and it’s like half the price used

1k for such a good amp modeler/all in one FX unit seems like a steal for something from fractal audio

I’m not sure if there’s a sound or feature difference between the two

I had a line 6 helix rack that I won in a contest and I was blown away by how clean and accurate the tones where , especially with third party cab IRs

And I hate line 6 lol

I can image the axe fx is even better

I like my tube amps but it seems digital is so good and convient now that’s really the way to go or to put one in front of your amp and use your amp heads power amp circuit only

This guy did a nice comparison between the Axe FXIII and the Helix:

Holy ****

I forgot how similar they sounded

I might just get a helix again because they’re cheaper

I should’ve never sold that because GC shafted me but if I was in such a tight bind when the pandemic started I needed the 700$ bad

The stock IRs are mediocre though

Their amp models with the Ownhammer IRs really do sound incredible , gotta buy the after market ones

The bogner uberschall , 6505+ and Jcm 800 model tones where almost 100% identical imo

The OD pedal tones are meh , I always used my actual TS9 and ISP Noise Gate instead of the modeled ones

Nvrm

I listened to the comparisons on some quality monitor headphones and heard a difference

I want the fractal ,it’s much more organic sounding

every artist on the fractal page actually uses one live and in the studio too

I can’t find anyone on the helix artist page who even talks about it in their rig

I can’t find a axe fx 3 right now for 2k or less nor a FM9 or FM3 to hold me over either. So much **** on back order right now ****s impossible to find

I might have to go with a axe fx ii xl +. Fukkkkk

Keep the axe fx 2 as a backup/ at home and buy a 3 later on for recording and gigging ?

at what point is the bang better for your buck with one company vs. the other?

I'm hunting for a telecaster as well!

I think I've settled on an American Original 60's, but finding one is pretty much impossible.

I see parallels with digital photography around 15 years ago — the technology had improved to a point where there was no longer a compelling reason to shoot on film. The Axe FX III is that watershed moment with modeling.

With the tube situation I'm ready to pack up all my chit and get one. All the rack gear I love from the 90s is old and on borrowed time and you can get close enough with the Fractal. Pedalboards are heavy, involve a lot of wiring every time you want to swap stuff around, and require expensive loop switching systems for presets. I'd rather have a 3U rack sitting on my desk that does it all. I already play through studio monitors.

Schecter more value definitively but it'll resell worse. Whether you actually like it better is a different matter, though.

Bit the bullet and bought a Snow White Soloist from Jackson’s new MJ line.

It was one of the last ones.

I cant wait to compare it to my USA models. I doubt there’s any difference.

I’m ocd as **** and just like sticking with one brand but I’m pretty upset Jackson thinks their US line should all be custom shop priced.

It’s now a equal tie imo between Jackson and ESP due to prices being the same.

2500$ for Japanese made and 5000$ for US made.

I like Jackson’s necks slightly better and I think Alder is a slightly better tone wood because I notice a sustain difference between it and my mahogany schecter.

Thanks for replying to the thread.

A guitar is a sum of its parts. Sometimes they work together sometimes not. All affected by temperature, humidity, workmanship and the player, etc .

As I mentioned in your other thread. That's why I build partscasters. It should be cheaper and you get everything you want. It's fun as fukk coming up with an idea and searching for the parts to make it work. Building my own 100% is in the near future.

Guitar prices are high are they worth it? Only if yer stuck on a certain brand and don't have to feed kids. I've played $100 no name brand guitars that play like butter and $5000 that play like poo.

Jackson is owned by fender and fender brand itself is the bread and butter. Like Chevy and GMC

I'm a big Satch fan and this song came up on my playlist I hadn't heard in years but was one of my favorites… Checked to see if there was a live version on youtube and found one

"One Big Rush" I think he nails the idea it definitely gets my adrenaline goin, enjoy:
