Already smarted off to all the execs, so think I'm safe moving forward unless our enterprise/corporate execs fly in from out of state. ;p
Enjoy my job but starting to dislike the twats in my department. Most everyone else is great.
One gal finally had a mental breakdown at work last month and had to take a two week leave of absence (srs). She blames it on our director. Another gal has mini meltdowns every week and cries at the drop of a hat. Which happens a lot. Because she is incompetent and has absolutely no business being in her position. And the newest guy is also an overly sensitive twit. They dislike being asked to do anything, if someone suggests something else, or if you question them at all. Because they're quite adamant they know everything. Work/personal, they are right and cannot be wrong. Even on things they have absolutely no experience or knowledge. Heaven forbid someone tell them no. They go into conniptions. They're trying to blame all their issues on the director and get her fired. Every blessed one of them has gone to both our COO and our HR director to gripe about their grievances. Beyond tired of listening to their shenanigans, smh.
Other than that, all is well. This is the least stressful gig I've ever had. It's been a pleasant change.

One gal was disrupting a meeting by banging around on a metal cup. She was being a sullen brat and not paying any attention. Boss lady finally stopped and waited for the gal to stop banging the cup. Gal did not stop but finally noticed that no one had been talking for a few minutes. She asked what, and boss questioned if she was done. Gal threw a hissy fit and claimed boss snapped and yelled at her for no reason.
During another meeting, boss asked the same gal to do something. Gal responded that she had already done it. Boss requested that she review her work because it was incomplete and not as requested. Gal started getting snippy, yelling, etc. I was dismissed so they could speak further. That meeting ended in tears, and gal immediately split for two weeks after.
On her return, she was slightly better. Primarily because the entire dept seems to think they're actually going to get the director fired. Unfortunately, things are starting to ramp back up again.
The other two are just as bad. "Hey, you sent x instead of y, so I wanted to make sure . . . " Person starts snapping that she takes care of x, you're not supposed to know anything about x, rant, rant, rant. Um, yeah, I don't give a damn about x, but you didn't send out y, which is what we need, so perhaps you can listen and allow someone to finish their question before you start griping. Gal bursts into tears.
We're working on a presentation to senior leadership. The gal doesn't do the work, so we give her suggestions. She gets pissed and tells us "Just tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do it." Claims she's going to miss the presentation anyway, so someone else needs to write her section. Someone else writes her section. She gets pissed that someone else wrote her section… And more tears ensue.
What's sad is the director probably shouldn't be in her position either. She's definitely got room for improvement and then some, but the vast majority of what they complain about isn't on her; it's their own issues. They basically want complete autonomy to do whatever they want, whenever they want, however they want.
Even though they have no idea what they're doing.
They refuse to back down on anything, whether or not it's work-related. Gal tries to tell me eating < 2k calories is dangerously unhealthy, tries to tell me about how professional certifications/education work (that I have, she does not), and even how it's absolutely physically impossible for ANYONE to pick up a dropped bike. We're talking 250s, not Harleys. It's pretty lulzy. Gal also claims she's premenopausal and recently asked her doc about options because she's experiencing some stress. Doc suggests antidepressants and anxiety meds to help with her "emotional" issues. Gal flips out and refuses to go back to doc . . . Despite later acknowledging that she might have some issues.
I get stuck doing some of their work, but not too bad. Some other depts aren't the greatest with deadlines or try to make their last minute issues priorities, but I usually push back and all is well. Two of my current projects originally belonged to the psycho gal before they were reassigned to me. I'm technically supposed to be helping her with her projects because she's the senior PM. But boss recently told me to only help out if/when I have the time b/c she wants me to prioritize another project that she's assigning me. Actually thankful that I have my own projects because it limits the time I have to spend w/ them, smh.
I went to Minnesota last month to visit the shrimp. No friends there. Unless you count the cat. ;p
