I think a low back pressure can makes a difference for sure. I have an “overgassed” BCM upper with an RC2 and don’t notice much gas to the face and I’m left handed. RC2 is known for low(er) back pressure.

It’s def gassier cause it will run steel but a heavier buffer and Geissele spring helped tame the carrier speed at least.

Also for some reason it I shoot indoors I notice it more but basically never notice outdoors. Not sure why that would make a difference just my experience.

Best solution I’ve seen for an overgassed upper isn’t BCG’s or charging handles or even adjustable gas blocks but the BRT gas tubes which actually restrict gas into the system. AGB works as well but then you have reliability issues and carbon locking issues.

It’s a meme but I legit prefer the combat gassing of the BCM srs. I know it will work no matter what. Not violent enough that it’s causing wear issues as far as I can tell and it runs any powered ammo.

My nicer LMT upper only works with full powered ammo which is what I shoot anyways but it’s noteworthy I think. LMT is softer shooting and parts would probably not wear as fast. Trade offs to everything.

Not exactly the same as one is a 14.5 mid length and the other is an 11.5 carbine. Also buffer weights and tube length vary so lots of factors go into it. Just got to play around with it a little and figure out what works best.

Even my super over gassed MK18 doesn't bother me that bad tbh. Maybe shooting it for hours would.

What is really bad is a suppressed .22 LR AR because that gas is full of nasty grit and smells awful. Eley .22 ammo smells like burning plastic.

Is the mk18 overgasssed ? DD uses a .070 gas port on the new barrels which is exactly what I’d want for that barrel length. I think G uses an even smaller one. BCM is like .072 or .074 depending on which barrel profile (supposedly).

10.3 vs 11.5 though extra dwell time maybe makes a difference idk

Without a suppressor it's perfect.

IMO a 10.3 that's tuned for no suppressor is just plain overgassed but then guys like to buy braced pistols aka SBR's even without a suppressor…and then run cheap weak .223 including steal sht in them topping it off by running them dirty and without adequate lube…so they have to be overgassed or people will whine "my short barrel AR that's dirty and dry doesn't run on Tulammo steel .223 waaaaa"

It depends but generally I’d say no.

Flash hider is generally the way to go but a muzzle brake has it uses. Supposedly good for a suppressor mount or maybe for a gaymer gun.

For a full time suppressed rifle, it's an option. Otherwise, pass

Yes, if for bench shooting for tiny groups if a suppressor isn't an option.

Otherwise no, I wouldn't.

My suppressed 6920LE runs great with a can, almost no gas in the face, even with my .22 conversion. Ive noticed Federal .22 has more blem rounds than any brand, makes plinking very annoying.

Grabbed my stock g19 g5 today. Bro doing my background check puts it in and gets immediate conf and was all “damn that was fast”

Id post pics but everyone knows what a g19 looks like….and posting pics on here is a pain in the dik

Girl I was with wanted to feel a few so I had her handling the mp9. Good sized gun for her. (She’s very small…like 5’2 small). Plus I like the thumb safety for her. I feel the mag release on the MP9 is 10 times better placement and ease to press over the g19.

Why do you think she should have/needs a manual safety? Gun already has several when finger is off the trigger.

For her she has never handled a gun let alone shot one. I just like the fact there is an extra “movement” off the trigger you need to engage before gun can go boom. She also liked the idea and it’s all about what your comfortable with.

You can't be comfortable with any of it when you've never even handled a gun before.

When your life is on the line and you need to shoot the guy in the next 1.2 seconds to not die, make sure you didn't forget to subconsciously disengage that safety while drawing the gun.

Facts. When I first started carrying, it was my canik, I carried at the 4-5 o clock position and was always tripping about an accident. Once you realize your gun is holstered properly and the only way it’ll go off is if the trigger is pulled, you’ll feel a lot better handling it and more comfortable with it. Following the fundamentals of handling firearms prevents it all imo.

Having a safety like Farley says is a mistake waiting to happen, there’s a video on people trying to disengage the safety in a life/death situation and each time it costed them their life because when you barely have a second to react, the person pointing a gun at you will pull that trigger faster than you can pull and disengage yours. Why put another obstacle for yourself

None of my carry guns have a safety but don’t think anything wrong with having one assuming you TRAIN with it. My tx22 has a manual safety and it’s pretty intuitive to swipe the safety when you draw the gun.

Training is key.

Telling someone who has never handled or fired a gun, let alone received even an hour of YouTube training, that they are better with a manual safety on a defensive pistol is kind of not it

I don't. Pull out the beside gun when I lock the bedroom door at night. Back in the safe in the morning.

Bedside pistol?

My 9mm guns sit under my pillows, one in the pipe holstered so i don't accidentally pull the trigger when flipping and flopping in the middle of the night.

My dog sleeps with me and his ears are hella sensitive to anyone walking within 2 houses away.

If i hear him bark that means a live organism is in the vicinity of my property. All i need to do is pull the weapon and pull the trigger.

Anyone who is going to break into my house must really, really want what i have inside as they have a 99% chance of being killed ( no badass ) .

Some people call me paranoid, but i call myself overly prepared
