Haha this is always an asked question! I really have no idea. Some sort of anomaly.

Had measurements this morning–down 2 inches total from last month (core mostly, chest dropped a tiny bit, arms, legs up a fraction), and weight didn't move. Switching my cardio from steady state to HIIT was a great move, also increased calories by 15%.

I've lost 8 lbs since I quit drinking strength is tanking. Getting a diet guy to help me now.

At 20 I was a grunt and solid, around 170-175. At 30, I was way low, around 160-165, decent(ish) shape. 35, wheels came off and a 12 week bulk turned into two years and by August of 2015, I was close to 235.
Nice work OG! My goal is to be in better shape at 40 than when I was 20.
At this age, it's been hard af to achieve results–the weight loss wasn't too bad (I dipped to 180 after 7 months when I was just trying to drop weight with LISS) – it's the fat loss that's been stubborn. But keeping my plan at a variable mix has been the key (and monitoring nutrition and measurements).
I also can't stress enough the importance of flexibility and mobility as well–I used to loathe adding in an extra 10-15 minutes of stretching and warming up–but it's saved me from any major injuries and legacy pains have vanished. In addition, my posture and gate are all markedly better, putting less pressure on joints and stretching me back out to 71"
I'll also add that my goal is to do this 100% naturally–meaning no supplements*, legal or otherwise. My PWO consists of two rice cakes and two tablespoons of peanut butter and my only caffeine comes from two cups of coffee in the morning.
I'm sure adding in a PWO, CLA or creatine would facilitate a lot of what I'm doing more quickly–I used ephedrine (when legal) and creatine in my late 20s, and they were amazing at achieving results–I just find that my rest and recovery are a lot better while keeping it as natural as possible, letting nature and my genetics take their course.
* I do use Muscle Milk 15 minutes post lift
What are your goals for 40–and how long are you looking at?

I remember when I quit drinking, it took awhile for my body to stabilize and I did drop some weight early on. A lot of energy is being used to heal any subsequent damage internally and loss of subcutaneous fat is happening as well–so it's not just the things you can see that are reducing mass/weight

Sadly, I had been doing that for 6-7 months, clueless. Surprised I'm not dead

I did the 6 meal thing in the beginning, just getting used to having that many calories was the hardest part. Now, my biggest meal is breakfast—720 on lift days. I've found that works the best for me. Lunch and dinner are set and then I add in 1 or 2 alternates, depending on the day. My body responds better to larger calorie intakes spread out over the day. If I find myself at a deficit at the end of the day, honey or peanut butter or both depending on the deficiency.
