Why can't they fukking taze or pepper spray the dog for fukks sake?

Not even 3 seconds pass and this idiot just blasts the thing with a pistol like nothing. His first instinct was to grab his gun and shoot without any hesitation. He should be gone.

A lot of cops are just cowards with guns. the first cop didnt even take his gun out cause he knew there wasnt a threat. all he did was use the stick to keep the pup in the house. 2nd cop was a coward and sht himself at just the thought of a dog coming his way. fukin pathetic.

Another example of how apparently paper spray doesn't work against dogs charging you barking.

If you knew anything about police work you would know that cops are allowed to immediately use deadly force when presented with a situation that could result in serious bodily injury, which a dog is more than capable of. Its not the cops job to risk getting bite by an aggressive dog just so the dumbass owner doesnt have any responsibility. Also yes you can compare trained dogs to other dogs because they have the same weapons, all police dogs are trained to attack on command, so really a civilllian dog that is not trained is actually worse because they cant be stopped without force where as a police dog will stop on command.
The dog paused in the doorway for a solid 2 seconds. He did not just run right by the first cop. Dogs, humans, cats, and a multitude of other things are capable of causing serious bodily injury, yes, but in the situation presented the dog was not creating a threat that would be considered life-threatening or one that would result in serious bodily injury. The language itself regarding the use of deadly force is loose as fuk and allows *******s like you to squirm around in semantics in order to justify your chitty, cowardly behavior.

Your entire perspective ITT has only been focused on one thing: the cop and what his job is. So far all of your statements are reflecting a sentiment that a cops job is only to look out for himself and his fellow officer. If that's what police work has devolved into, then you aren't protecting or serving anyone but yourself. You're labeling every citizen and every pet a suspect and a threat and instantly looking for threats and escalation, rather than treating people and animals like members of community whom you are sworn to protect.

"it's not the cops job to risk..." bullchit. It absolutely is. You know what you're signing up for as much as any other cop. Your entire job is to risk your life and injury in order to SERVE AND PROTECT CITIZENS.

And if cops are going to be given that much flexibility regarding the ability to use deadly force, there should be clear and explicit training on animal behavior, given that there are literally millions of homeowners with dogs in this country. The behavior of the animal in the video is not aggressive. That is not up for debate. That is a fact that can be proven by dog trainers and animal behavior specialists. Regardless of the homeowner's responsibility to secure the dog, the fact is that it wasn't being aggressive. If you're interpreting it that way then you have a gross misunderstanding of canine behavior.

You're arguing civilian dogs are worse? What? The vast majority of pet owners in America never encourage aggressive behavior from their dogs, instead they're encouraged to be loving and friendly and discouraged from things like biting/gnawing and even barking, since those can be misinterpreted as aggressive. Civilian dogs are literally trained to be non-aggressive, whereas police dogs are literally rewarded for engaging in aggressive behavior. The fact that you're conflating the two so closely really makes me uncomfortable regarding the reasoning abilities of LEOs.

You've gotta be kidding me...cops have an entire arsenal of non-lethal options literally strapped to their waist...pepper spray, baton, taser, there's at least 3 different things he could have used to engage the dog IF he really felt engagement was necessary.

But that's the other component to this, their reaction to the appearance of the dog and their interpretation of its behavior was grossly egregious.

by this logic, cops shouldn't even bother trying to handcuff unruly citizens, they should just shoot them dead and be done with it.

so either you agree with this, and are the embodiment of everything people hate about cops, or you're really just that stupid.

good job by the cop for protecting himself
lol @ you outing yourself as a YUUUUUGEEE pussy lol

that dog was like 40-50lbs at most, hardly a "big ass aggressive looking dog"

and maybe it's safer for the owner to assume the dog is friendly because they spend all their time around the dog and see how it interacts? as opposed to some retard stranger (such as yourself) making assumptions about a dog they know nothing about.

little reading for your uniformed mind, how you can rationalize a charging, barking dog as not attacking is beyond me...
so the provided literature does not define an attack as it pertains to a human, despite having explicitly defined criteria on what an attack is upon livestock, and it's also an article regarding civilian farmers killing other civilian's dogs, not LEO's cowardly shooting a dog for trying to say hi to someone who's invading his territory

Also pepper spray does work on dogs. You are a legitimate moron.

So why bother tasing human then since you COULD miss? Could of easily unholstered weapon in two seconds or less and partner was right there with him. this is the mentality that gets cops in trouble. you take risk by being a police officer, just dont get the right to shoot everybody and everything if you feel uncomfortable

Cop should receive several years in prison, someone would get such a sentence here for animal abuse and this is clearly the most extreme possible form of animal abuse and damage to property.

I feel sorry for americans having such garbage police.

-talk to the dog and let the dog smell him to calm down (like a normal person does, who isn't a scared little chit)
-Kicked the dog if it started snapping

That dog could NEVER have killed or hurt the cops. Ever. Not ever. I don't think ANYONE who knows dogs would really even be afraid of the dog at that point.

Point is, the cop was a scared little chit and should be sued.

"I hate dogs because of ONE bad experience with ONE dog in which the dog was neglected and not taken care of properly for 2+ years and so naturally like any living creature was a bit unchecked. Fuk that thing. It was clearly predestined and programmed to be an angry aggressive dog and attack me, it had nothing to do with my roommate's/my lack of care or respect for the dog."
