I was semi-aesthetic early on in college but hadn't developed good social skills yet, and I was often amazed at the DYEL twinks and obese neckbeards in my dorm who had girlfriends spending the night in their rooms regularly. The most autistic, fedora-wearing nerd weirdo I encountered lived in my dorm and regularly had super loud sex with girls in his room such that the RAs had to knock and ask them to please stop screaming and rattling the bed. If that guy can do it, anyone can.
I don't think I'm disfigured and only obese and old women hit on me. I don't get tinder matches, or POF/OKCupid responses. 5/10s dont even give me the time of the day.

I see many guys like this in real life and the misc. Alot of us arent like....completely busted but just get low to non existent amounts of attention.

Walked in to wincel's thread, expected incel self-defeatist attitude... But to think about it, there is a grain of truth to it.

Like, look around you, how many people who are regarded as "charismatic" or "leaders" who are absolute abominations? I don't think I know one. How many U.S. presidents are there who are ugly? The past 5 are obviously not model tier but look very presentable. Even Hillary Clinton was an HBB when she was 20 lol. So yeah, there is some truth to it...

That said, make do of what you've got. Accept the ugly truth of our society, but also constantly work to improve yourself.

Last time i went out was New years 2014 and i was at a bar with my GF's friends. I just sat there awkwardly the entire time sober while everyone else was drinking/smoking and telling boring jokes. I ended up getting mad and left.

Your problem is evident just from the very first sentence. Lol at "out conversing" anyone. A conversation isn't a competition. It's about connection, and connection is more than just words coming out of your mouth, although that's a part of it. Take a joke from someone like Eddie Murphy. Try the same joke. Not only will it be not nearly as funny, it might even come out as blatantly offensive.

Anyways, part of the problem is that you're looking for some technical definition of "social skills" when of course none exists. It's one of those vague things that are difficult to understand unless you experience it, and you have very little experience for someone your age. If you want to actually understand it, then you need to put yourself out there, but of course you won't.

No, it means not being weak. Countless people all over the world are living hard lives. Not all of them are whining about it.

Social skills rely heavily on being able to "take the hint".

A socially skilled person is able to socialize better because they can take the hint i.e. "what I'm talking about is boring this person, maybe I'll change the subject, or ask them a question" etc.

Whereas a person who's less socially skilled may not get the hint and keep talking while not worrying about engaging the person they're talking to.

It's almost like in regards to socialization the way people behave is supposed to prompt "proper" response from you.

People with poor social skills are generally too preoccupied with something other than who they're trying to engage.

Prepare for everyone's super unique, special snowflake definition of "social skills". Watch them be different af cuz ain't nobody ITT a sociology god like ya boy RB.

Social skills are the keen observation of socially constructed social norms. They differ from society to society, from social group to social group.

That's nothing but a poor attempt at justifying social awkwardness.

Contrary to popular belief, you can be preoccupied with many things, and have good social skills.

it's easier to list the negatives, lack of social skills to me means:

- not being able to read non verbal communication (you're talking to someone and they keep looking away = not interested in talking anymore, only reply in short responses and don't keep the conversation going = not interested in talking anymore)

- not being able to read facial expressions like people being uncomfortable, unhappy, irritated

- bringing up inappropriate topics (ranting about politics/religion with a group of people you just met)

- lack of self awareness like talking endlessly about things other people in the conversation don't care about

Not if the main thing you're preoccupied with is trying to prove how much smarter you are than the person you're attempting to "out converse".

This dude gets it.

I know a few real life autists. They have a complete inability to get social clues when talking to people and they don't get "hints" when in conversation.

Social skills is basically being able to have a converse with people. When you speak the way you do in the thread title this is a clear sign that you are either mentally ill or have autism. Your cynicism is to high leading you to being paranoid, and fearful of everything. Not trying to be mean but you will never make it big, or make a ton of money. Success and happiness stems from the willingness to learn and improve everyday. If you think being happy and optimistic is fake then you are retarded and will never be happy or be successful.
I just want to share the knowledge I have obtained throughout my life and hopefully change someone's life.

In fact, a lot of people with supposedly "bad" social skills are just ugly and people act bored and uninterested around them because they do not find those people attractive. I've also noticed a lot of classically attractive people behave extremely erratically and do and say awful things and are given a free pass. Do they have "good social skills?"

What about this kunt? Does she have "good social skills"?

A lot of people will reference "game" and say you have to have "game." However, I can show you tons of examples of "game" that is pretty pathetic and unsophisticated which sloots still responded positively to when the guy was attractive to them so I think that's pretty much a load of horsechit. I think "social skills" is pretty much a euphemism for being attractive, barring extreme cases of autism where some dude can't pick up on social cues or is literally too shy to talk.

Can you *******s show me an example of someone with "good" social skills? Also, show me someone with "good social skills" who isn't considered hot.

Also a lot of "social skills" seems to be feigning happiness and enthusiasm in everything. The people best at this are seasoned narcissists and psychopaths who are extremely good at manipulating others. It reminds me of the faux enthusiasm you see in media people during interviews. Are these examples of "good social skills" or is this just being an emotionally manipulative, fake twat?

Social skills means reading body language, choosing the appropriate social action from a menu of choices to the situation at hand, enhancing your social menu choices especially when living in an alien/foreign culture, and ensuring that your social skills prevents conflict as much as possible.
